Organizational Setting

The main aim of the FAO Country Offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments in developing policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and nutrition and reduce hunger and malnutrition, promote sustainable agricultural development, reduce rural poverty, develop inclusive agri-food systems and strengthen livelihood resilience – in line with the Organization’s Strategic Objectives and United Nations’ global and Government of Egypt’s national Sustainable Development Goals.


Reporting Lines

The incumbent, working in close collaboration with the project personnel, Government counterparts, and all stakeholders, will ensure that the families of all project beneficiaries and their wider rural communities are aware of gender sensitivity and that the project adopts a gender-transformative approach in the designated locations of the Menya governorate.


Technical Focus

The main role is to develop A gender-based analysis that will not stop at the household level but will feature the individual level as most of gender inequalities often originate within the household and women’s agency and power also depend on intra-household dynamics. And he will Greater awareness of the gender-sensitive and nutritional value of horticultural and animal produce and healthy diets by families of targeted villages


Tasks and responsibilities

• Conducting gender-sensitive analyses to ensure the differential needs, constraints, capacities, priorities of women and men targeted by the project are understood and addressed.
• Recommending the Project’s Gender Strategy to prioritize women’s roles in training, food security, nutrition, income generation and value-added activities in their communities and households.
• Any other duties related to the incumbent’s field of experience, as required.


CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING


Minimum Requirements

• Advanced university degree/university degree/technical diploma/high school diploma/conducted study reports on women empowerment in rural communities.
• Five years of experience working with women and gender-based activities.
• Working knowledge of English (level C) and Arabic mother tongue.
• National of Egypt or permitted to work in the country.

Technical/Functional Skills

• Experience working with small-scale farm owners.
• The extent and relevance of experience in women's empowerment in rural communities in different work areas is important.

Selection Criteria

• The work experience of the area.
• It is preferred to be Menya-based.
• If available, a sample report on women empowerment.
