Organizational Setting
The Digital FAO and Agro-Informatics Division (CSI) is responsible for all Information Technology (IT) activities within the Organization.
CSI defines FAO IT policies, strategy, IT architecture and standards and is responsible for the provision of digital products and services utilized to deliver the mandate of the Organization and support its operations worldwide.
CSI manages and supports a set of corporate digital products and services which collectively comprise the FAO Digital Workplace utilized by personnel across the Organization worldwide to access and utilize Organizational digital resources and data in order to perform their work regardless of location or time zone in a secure manner.
The post of Information Technology Officer (Digital Workplace) is located in CSI at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy.
Reporting Lines
The Information Technology Officer (Digital Workplace) reports to the Deputy Director, CSI and works under the overall guidance of the Director, CSI.
Technical Focus
The Information Technology Officer (Digital Workplace) will support the Deputy Director, CSI in the management and evolution of the products and services comprising the FAO Digital Workplace. In this context he/she will assist in the development of the Digital Workplace annual work plan and monitor its implementation by the various work-streams/projects, contribute to the development and maintenance of the Digital Workplace Service Catalog including key performance indicators for performance monitoring, monitor financial resources to ensure budgetary compliance and provide project management support where required.
Key Results
Perform activities related to the design, development, implementation, deployment, quality assurance, documentation and operation of ICT products, technology, systems and/or applications.
Key Functions
• Performs one or more activities relating to the ICT product, technology, system or application life cycle\: (a) business needs; (b) requirements definition; (c) ICT solution options; (d) IT solution design; (e) implementation and testing; (f) deployment; (g) documentation; (h) support and maintenance, according with CSI's policy, standards and procedures.
• Identifies, assesses and manages ICT operational risks proposing mitigation activities and submitting ICT risk information.
• Participates in the definition of the overall programme of work, ensuring its consistency with the overall strategic vision and enterprise architecture.
• Contributes to service improvement programmes and initiatives to ensure that the Division is well placed to challenge existing business needs and contributes to introduce change to create improvement opportunities.
• Monitors, audits and reports on service performance to identify and address areas of risk; ensures compliance with agreed service-level expectations; contributes to periodic reviews and updates of the strategic vision to ensure it is relevant and up-to-date.
• Liaises with relevant CSI teams that provide input to the programme of work to ensure that the programme is in line with overall CSI direction and processes.
• Produces status reports and author documentation and prepares presentations for management.
• Supports and contributes to initiatives under the Organization's work on the Corporate Environmental Responsibility Strategy, to reduce emissions, increase efficiency and integrate sustainability into the Organization's daily operations.
Specific Functions
• Assists in the preparation of the Digital Workplace annual work, documents and reports on its implementation in close collaboration with the various CSI work-streams.
• Supports the compilation, analysis and monitoring of the Digital Workplace results-based outputs.
• Assists in budget planning and utilizes CSI budgetary monitoring tools and processes to facilitate financial management and planning for the Digital Workplace.
• Prepares periodic budgetary reports.
• Liaises with the Digital Workplace team leads and coordinates the development, publishing and maintenance of the catalog comprising of the digital products and services available to the Organization.
• Assists in the development of Digital Workplace key performance indicators, monitors progress against targets and reports to management.
• Assists in the development of the Digital Workplace risk log, monitors implementation of defined mitigations measures and reports to management.
• Liaises with the project management office and project leads to determine progress for all projects within the Digital Workplace and compiles quarterly reports to management with an overview of scope, timeline and budget status for each project.
• Analyses service performance, outputs against work plans and financial data to inform management decision-making.
• Provides support to Management to enable compliance with corporate requirements in relation to audit and internal control.
• Performs other related duties as required.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• Advanced university degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, software engineering, electric or electronic engineering, mathematics, statistics or a related field.
• Five years of relevant experience in delivering and overseeing digital products and services utilized to support global operations.
• Working knowledge (proficient - level C) of English and limited knowledge (intermediate - level B) of another official FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).

Technical/Functional Skills
• Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions.
• Extent and relevance of experience in the field of the Corporate Environmental Responsibility is an asset.
• Extent and relevance of experience and knowledge in the delivery of digital products and services utilizing an Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) approach.
• Extent and relevance of experience in planning, managing and coordinating technical and/or operational work plans for the provision of digital products and services including budgetary and performance monitoring.
• Extent and relevance of experience in coordinating the provision of various modalities of cloud-based digital services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
• Work experience in supporting IT operations in a large and geographically diverse environment similar to FAO.
• Extent and relevance of experience and knowledge in project management.
