What we do
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.
Purpose
As part of the ICRC Health team, the Ward Nurse serves in the medical-surgical and ICU units of Tripoli Governmental Hospital (TGH), promotes and ensures high quality of care that meets national and international standards. S/he is representing the ICRC in the TGH medical-surgical and ICU units ensuring in smooth and efficient cooperation with the TGH Team, quality nursing care and continuum of health care. S/he supports, coaches and builds the capacity of TGH medical-surgical and ICU departments health staff in their specific and general nursing care, meeting departmental goals and ICRC objectives.
Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities
- Provides high-quality care to admitted patients, following the ICRC's nursing guidelines and in cooperation with other members of the surgical team.
- Participates in delivering a training/coaching program to measurably improve the quality of patient care.
- Promotes a clean and safe patient environment and ensures that hygiene conditions are regularly measured and maintained in line with ICRC standards.
- Ensures accurate data collection through the timely completion and filing of all patient/hospital-related documents.
- Participates effectively in any emergency-preparedness or response measures undertaken by the team or hospital.
- Ensures clinical management of nursing and auxiliary staff under his/her responsibility.
- Cooperates with and provides any relevant support to both internal and external counterparts.
- Makes sure that available resources are used rationally and that supplies are reordered; ensures that equipment is properly used and maintained.
- Ensures accurate data collection through the timely completion and filing of all patient/hospital-related documents.
- Participates effectively in any emergency-preparedness or response measures undertaken by the team or hospital.
- Ensures clinical management of nursing and auxiliary staff under his/her responsibility.

Certifications / Education required
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent (minimum 3-years course)
- Registered nurse with a valid license to practice.
- Very good knowledge in orthopedic, trauma, wound management, infection and prevention control, quality management, organizing ward rounds, experience in creating/updating standard operations and procedures.
Professional Experience required
- 3 to 5 years' overall work experience in a hospital, including 1 to 3 years' practice preferably in a general, orthopaedic and/or trauma ward.
- Previous experience in acute-care departments such as emergency rooms, intensive-care units, and recovery rooms.
- Previous international humanitarian and/or development experience in low-income countries an asset..
- Previous experience within the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement an asset.

What we offer
- Salary Package: 2’037 – 2’926 USD/Month (As per ICRC salary scale, salary setting processes will determine fair setting in coherence with the qualifications of the applicant and the requirements of the job).
- 13th Month of salary paid in December, pro rata basis in accordance with the period worked.
- Annual Leave: 20 calendar working days of paid leave per year, pro rata basis in accordance with the period worked.
- Health Insurance: 90% of premium fees under class B, coverage include: Doctor visits, Medicines, Therapy services, etc.)
- International Retirement Saving Plan (IRSP): a contribution valued at 11.5% of your monthly salary, these savings are paid by the end of service as a lump sum.
- Other benefits subject to internal rules and regulations: High Cost of Living Allowance (HCLA), Schooling allowance, eyeglasses, designated personal training budget for learning opportunities.
Additional information
- Location: Tripoli Governmental Hospital – North of Lebanon
- Working Schedule: Monday till Friday, from 8 Am till 5 Pm or according to operational needs, weekends will be on a rotational basis.
- Type of contract: Fixed Term, 1 year (Renewable based on performance and need for position).
