EI, a new specialized service provider within the INCAS group, offers comprehensive business development solutions for organizations in the humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding sectors. Equalise.it is seeking to build a roster of qualified experts to provide expert advisory services to its partners and clients in the following areas:

  • Proposal Writing 

  • Grant Management 

  • Graphic Design

 

Position Summary

The Graphic Design Consultant at Equalise.it (EI) will collaborate with clients to create impactful visual assets that facilitate organizational understanding, strategic alignment, and communication. This role focuses on translating complex ideas into clear, engaging visuals that support theories of change, programmatic frameworks, and other strategic documents. The consultant will utilize visual storytelling techniques to foster shared vision, stimulate creativity, and enhance stakeholder engagement. This position may involve working on projects both in-person and remotely, using tools such as live scribing, graphic recording, and presentation templates.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Visual Strategy and Design Development:

  • Collaborate with clients and the EI team to understand project objectives, key messages, and desired outcomes for visual materials.

  • Design compelling visuals that communicate theories of change, organizational strategies, and programmatic goals effectively.

  • Develop a visual strategy tailored to each client’s unique context, aligning designs with branding guidelines and communication objectives.

 

Graphic Facilitation and Live Scribing:

  • Provide graphic facilitation during meetings or workshops, capturing ideas, discussions, and insights in real-time to create a visual record that enhances participant engagement.

  • Offer live scribing services for both virtual and in-person events, translating spoken content into visuals that support immediate understanding and retention.

 

Design and Development of Visual Assets:

  • Create a variety of visual assets, including but not limited to:

    • Theories of change diagrams

    • Strategic frameworks

    • Presentation templates

    • Visual environments for workshops or meetings

    • Infographics 

  • Ensure all assets are accessible, coherent, and adaptable for diverse audiences.

 

Innovation and Customization:

  • Co-design customized visual templates and tools with clients to support their unique communication and facilitation needs.

  • Experiment with new visualization techniques and tools to ensure creative and impactful outcomes, enhancing client projects.

 

Project Closeout and Documentation:

  • Provide clients with final, editable versions of all visual assets and assist in integrating them into client documents as needed.

  • Document the design process and gather feedback to refine EI’s approach to visual facilitation and graphic design services.

 

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in visual facilitation, graphic recording, or scribing, especially within the humanitarian, development, or peacebuilding sectors.

  • Advanced skills in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other graphic recording tools).

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating ability to translate complex concepts into clear, engaging visuals.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to adapt visuals for diverse cultural contexts.

  • Ability to work remotely with clients and meet deadlines across multiple projects.

 

Desirable:

  • Master’s degree in visual communication, design thinking, or a related discipline.

  • Experience in designing theories of change, strategic frameworks, or programmatic visuals for nonprofits or consulting firms.

  • Proficiency in live scribing and graphic recording, with experience in both digital and analog formats.

  • Knowledge of French, Spanish, or Arabic for bilingual or multilingual visual projects.

  • Experience in workshop facilitation or training delivery, including visual storytelling workshops or capacity building in visual thinking.

  • Familiarity with online collaboration tools (e.g., Miro, Figma) and video conferencing platforms.

 

Working Conditions & Requirements

  • Consultants will be engaged on an 'as-needed' basis to complete specific tasks for Equalise.it clients within defined timeframes and deliverables.

  • Engagement will be remote, expected to begin in January 2025, with consultants working 8 days a month on average.

  • Consultants will be profiled on the Equalise.it website and client materials, enhancing their professional visibility as part of our expert team. 

  • Compensation will be based on education and experience.
