Organizational Context

Job Purpose

The Project Manager will be integrated in the Italian Red Cross (ItRC) Delegation in Kyiv and will report to the Italian Red Cross Head of Mission. She/he will oversee the implementation of ItRC funded projects, focusing on the coordination of a health-based capacity building project. She/he is expected to coordinate with ItRC colleagues and work closely with URCS counterparts to ensure that projects are consistent with the project plan, adhere to the ItRC and donors' policies and procedures, respect set timelines and meet project indicators, objectives, and reporting requirements. From time to time the Project Manager may be required to conduct field visits to measure the impact of interventions and provide necessary support to the teams.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities of the role sought:

Under the supervision of the Delegate in Ukraine, contribute to the management and monitoring of the program "Supporting the Ukrainian Population for Prosthetic Care, Treatment and Rehabilitation in the Context of the War Emergency Ukraine" funded by AICS (Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development) in Ukraine.

  • Ensure coordination between project partners in Italy and Ukraine, facilitating a constant flow of communication and logistical support for travel to the target countries of the project intervention (Italy and Ukraine).
  • Ensure the effective coordination of project activities, including administrative and accounting management and expense reporting, ensuring compliance with European procedures (PRAG), and in close coordination with project partners and the Ukrainian National Society.
  • Contribute to the preparation of periodic and final project reports, as well as any other informative documents requested by the Italian Red Cross in relation to the progress of supported activities.
  • Support the Country Delegate in analysing the Ukrainian context with a focus on priority humanitarian aspects.
  • Assist in the identification and formulation of new project proposals and cooperation initiatives, particularly by looking at various funding opportunities and donors, in close coordination with relevant National Societies active in Ukraine, in collaboration with other National Partner Societies, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross, and other operational units at CRI HQ at CRI headquarters level.
  • Following the strategic directions of the Senior Management Team, support in strengthening partnership and coordination with all Movement partners at the national level.
  • Support the monitoring and reporting of existing programs and activities supported by the Italian Red Cross in the region, according to CRI guidelines and practices followed by National Societies, and Movement partners and/or donors.
  • Under the supervision of the Head of Mission, participate in networks and clusters together with national Red Cross or Red Crescent societies and other stakeholders to ensure synergies, common strategies and avoid duplication and overlapping of initiatives.
  • Under the supervision of the Head of Mission, prepare communication materials (articles and/or audiovisual materials).
  • Any other tasks required by CRI managers at the country and HQ levels.

Education

Required

  • Relevant university degree or extensive professional experience in related field ‎‎(minimum three years if coupled with a degree, otherwise seven years)‎

Preferred

  • Professional training and certification in project (or grant) management

  • Other relevant professional training courses (Red Cross/Red Crescent related, ‎humanitarian and development sector, etc.)‎

Experience

Required

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management
  • Experience in project cycle management including proposal development, budgeting and ‎reporting, monitoring and evaluation

  • Experience in drafting of narrative and financial reports

Preferred


  • Experience in international grant management (ideally with AICS) in the humanitarian or ‎development sector ‎

  • Volunteering or professional experience within the Red Cross / Red Crescent Movement

  • Relevant work experience with an international organisation, international non-‎governmental organization, NGO and/or government development agency

Knowledge, Skills and Languages

Required

  • Knowledge of grant management in the humanitarian / development sector (ideally with ‎AICS)‎

  • Ability to lead and manage partners and stakeholders in a diverse cultural context
    Highly organised/time management skills

  • Sound knowledge in financial management and in project design, budget, monitoring, ‎evaluation, and reporting

  • Effective writing skills including drafting of narrative and financial reports

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, manage stress and ability to travel within the territory ‎of Ukraine (security cleared).‎
