Overview of position

CTG’s Asia Regionis CTG’s most important region with large-scaled projects.The Asia operations are in a positive position, growing steadily in Afghanistan, where most operations are located, and with different new opportunities across the regionThe Asia operation requires strong leadership to ensure continued operations, maintain duty of care in a complex environment, and meet the ambitious growth targets for the region. This is a pivotal moment to drive sustainable impact and growth in the region, with a clear focus on humanitarian outcomes and effective operational strategies. 

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Regional Director to lead and drive the strategy for our CTG Asia region, based in Kabul, Afghanistan. The ideal candidate will bring at solid experience in operations, leadership, and business development within the development or humanitarian field, with a proven track record of managing multi-country operations and leading cross-functional teams. 

Role objectives

Strategic Oversight & Regional Leadership 

  • Define and execute the regional strategy, ensuring alignment with global CTG goals, while maximizing growth and impact.
  • Act as the key liaison between country operations and headquarters, ensuring alignment on strategic initiatives and performance objectives. 

  • Lead, guide, and mentor country operations managers and regional finance team, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing across countries to drive regional success. 


Financial Management & Profitability 

  • Oversee financial performance across countries, ensuring adherence to budgets, cost control, and profitability targets. 
  • Lead regional financial reporting processes, ensuring timely and accurate communication with headquarters. 
  • Drive optimization of revenue generation, ensuring long-term financial sustainability and operational efficiency. 


Sales & Business Development 

  • Champion business growth by identifying and seizing new opportunities, developing relationships with key clients, and driving sales and revenue targets. 
  • Collaborate with regional teams to develop proposals and expand client portfolios, ensuring alignment with global business goals. 

Quality Assurance & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure continuous operational excellence and compliance with organizational standards, local regulations, and client requirements. 
  • Drive process improvements and implement new systems (Tayo, Sage, Sharepoint 2.0) to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. 


Issue Resolution and Risk Management 

  • Act as a point of escalation for complex operational challenges, providing strategic guidance and ensuring timely resolution of critical issues. 
  • Oversee security protocols to ensure the safety of staff, consultants, and assets, particularly in high-risk environments. 
Project reporting

This role reports to the COO.

Key competencies
  • University degree in Management, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field (Master’s degree is highly preferred). 
  • Minimum 11 years of experience in multi-country operations management, preferably in the development or humanitarian sectors. 
  • Proven leadership experience, including managing diverse teams across various geographies. 
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management, financial reporting, and business development. 
  • Demonstrated success in identifying new business opportunities and managing client relationships. 
  • Expertise in ensuring operational excellence and implementing systems for higher efficiency. 
  • Ability to navigate complex and high-risk environments, with experience in security and risk management. 
  • Available for regular travel to field locations, including remote or challenging environments.
