The Operational Center Amsterdam (OCA) Council oversees the joint implementation of the social mission objectives of the OCA. It consists of two members of the partner boards, and the chair of the Medical Committee and the Audit and Risk Committee.

This position falls functionally under the OCA Council Chair and hierarchically reporting to the Head of Director’s Office.

Main responsibilities

As the OCA Council Officer, you support the OCA Council, Chair and Vice-Chair, through identifying, prioritising and implementing objectives and key themes pertaining to the governance of OCA. The OCA associative network is integrated within the governance processes of OCA through coordination with the Associative Standing Committee.

This role includes tasks and activities in the evening and weekends (occasionally).

 

Responsibilities and activities

  • Support the OCA governance entitiesoperateand conduct its governance and practical duties and responsibilities optimally

  • The OCA Council and its sub-committees are informed and acting upon priorities, risks, and dependencies both inside OCA and within the MSF movement

  • Assimilatinglarge quantitiesof written and verbal communication quickly and produceaccurate,timelyminutes

  • Management ofCouncil andCommittee -related administrative concerns including meetings, quality of documentation, archives, and institutional memory of the Committees

  • Decisions and actions ofCouncilandCommitteesaremaintained, prioritized, and implemented

  • Content at the OCA Café including related to OCA Committees and Council accountability is planned and implemented

  • Support the Director’s Office in the effective management of our governance entities, working in tandem with theotherOCA Council Officer; improving our ways of working and efficiencies with process and software improvements

Candidate Profile

You are a motivated, enthusiastic person and service minded. You are keen on helping others. You have a hands-on mentality. You can work independently in supporting the OCA Council Chair and used to work in an international environment.

  • BSc/MSc working level (Communication, Political Sciences, (Executive) Office Management)

  • 3+ years’ experience in project management

  • Self-starter who takes initiative, work independently, and can facilitate Council Members’ work, from administrative to strategic concerns

  • Understanding of Microsoft word, Excel and PowerPoint and Microsoft Dynamics 365

  • Deep understanding of the humanitarian landscape (MSF and beyond)

  • Availability is requested for evenings/weekends - occasionally, will be compensated (time for time)

  • Fluency in English both oral and written is required

  • Ability to meet deadlines, multi-tasking, prioritization of tasks and working under pressure

  • Integrity, sensitivity and able to work with confidential information

We offer

This is a structural position. We offer a Dutch employment contract, based on 40 hours per week. The contract is for one year with renewal option (subject to satisfactory performance).  

A gross monthly salary between € 3,223 and € 4,437 depending on relevant work experience, based on a fulltime appointment.
