The InternationalPotatoCenter (CIP) isseekinga dedicatedandmotivated Senior Research Associate inGender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) for our hosted organization, CIFOR-ICRAF in the region.

About CIFOR-ICRAF: More than a research institute—it is a hub of the brightest minds working together to develop nature-based solutions for forested and tree-based landscapes. We collaborate with governments, academia, civil

society, and the private sector to address five major global challenges: deforestation and biodiversity loss, the climate crisis, the transformation of unsustainable food systems, unsustainable value and supply chains, and extreme inequality.

About the role: The selected candidate for this position will provide research, engagement, and capacity development expertise on GESI at CIFOR-ICRAF’s Peru office, providing input and support across a portfolio of projects. The responsibilities will include research, capacity development, and engagement activities at different levels and across regions. This Senior Research Associate will work under the Governance, Equity and Wellbeing team, directly supervised by the Scientist, Governance, Equity and Wellbeing.

Key responsibilities:

• Participate in the development of research and engagement activities in the arena of forests, rights, environmental justice, and GESI.

• Be impactful in relevant engagement and research areas, including at least three co-authored briefs/articles annually.

• Participate in the development of research proposals that will span different regions and provide innovative solutions to complex issues.

• Present in national/regional fora and use appropriate media to ensure effective communication in support of accelerated research impact.

• Strengthen partnerships with government agencies, donors, civil society organizations and research think tanks at the national/regional level.

What are we looking for?

• Master’s degree in Anthropology, Gender Studies, Geography, Sociology or other related Social Sciences. • Minimum of 10 years of experience applying GESI and rights/environmental justice approaches to research/engagement on climate change, development and/or conservation fields in the Peruvian Amazon. • Practical experience elaborating GESI research methods, diagnostics, evaluations, and trainings. • Demonstrated experience designing methodologies and carrying out research in rural Latin America. • Demonstrated experience with research, capacity development, and engagement methodologies and tools relevant to rural Indigenous Peoples and local communities and/or women.

• Demonstrated experience publishing academic articles and/or reports for research for impact dealing with GESI themes/issues.

• Demonstrated experience organizing and facilitating workshops.

• Demonstrated experience engaging with government and civil society actors to disseminate research in Latin America.

• Demonstrated awareness of global climate change and forest governance and policy context/priorities. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish. • Leadership and advocacy skills, good communication and synthesis skills on technical-scientific and

facilitation issues.

• Demonstrated experience authoring articles and/or reports and policy briefs in English and/or Spanish.

• Willingness to travel as per the project’s needs.

• Proficiency in relevant software packages (Microsoft Office)
