Duties and Responsibilities

This vacancy announcement is for an internship position starting in May 2025 for a period of four to six months and is designed to be in-person and hybrid full time (40 hours) but can be adjusted based on request by the successful candidate. The internship is UNPAID. The UNODC Regional Office for Southeast Asia and the Pacific (ROSEAP) is mandated to provide governments of countries of the Southeast Asia region with technical assistance to enhance the capacity of law enforcement agencies, justice-delivery services, and health authorities. This includes the role that UNODC plays as the Secretariat to the Memorandum of Understanding on Drug Control in the Greater Mekong Subregion (the Mekong MOU), where UNODC provides strategic and technical support to the drug control authorities in the Mekong. The intern will work under the Mekong MOU Secretariat within the UNODC Regional Office for Southeast Asia and the Pacific. The intern will report to the Regional Coordinator of the Mekong MOU, Regional Office for Southeast Asia and the Pacific (ROSEAP), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Bangkok, Thailand. The intern will provide assistance to the organization and coordination of activities and events to be carried out by the Secretariat of the Mekong MOU. Tasks included: - Draft concept note and invitations for activities planned; - Coordinate the nominations with the invited countries; - Assist with presentations, photo taking and other documents; - Prepare and summarize evaluation and feedback forms; - Draft activity reports with recommendations; - Draft web stories and advocacy materials; - Conduct research on topics related to drug control; - Other tasks assigned by the Regional Office.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). • Be computer literate in standard software applications; • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have recently completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and MS Teams. Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of Chinese is an advantage.
