Responsibilities

  1. Provide specialized support to the development and implementation of the mission’s public information, communications and visibility strategy and work plan.
  2. Support the creation of public information content – in particular, visual content – on the mission’s key activities and achievements.
  3. Compile and draft Lines To Take (LTTs), in coordination with the Head of PSU, on issues pertinent to the IOM Country Office in Rwanda particularly for the CoM. 
  4. Liaise with local media outlets and fielding inquiries from media agencies, in close coordination with the Head of PSU. 
  5. Interview project beneficiaries and write stories and articles for dissemination in various traditional and digital platforms.
  6. Manage the IOM Rwanda website: upload and publish data on the website, update website information, share website traffic analysis.
  7. Liaise with media practitioners to enhance visibility of the mission’s work and to promote balanced and credible coverage of migration issues.
  8. Assist in planning, development and delivery of capacity building initiatives for media stakeholders.
  9. Monitor media coverage of the mission’s work and other media developments on migration.
  10. Plan and coordinate media and social media campaigns across multiple platforms, including Facebook and Twitter.
  11. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism or a related field from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience; or
  • High school diploma with six years of relevant professional experience.

IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. 

REQUIRED

For this position, fluency in English and Kinyarwanda   is required (oral and written).

Required Skills

  • In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization;
  • Knowledge IOM branding guidelines and house style;
  • Knowledge of IOM’s logistics and administration rules;
  • • Very good writing skills.
