About this position
We are looking for a motivated, dedicated, and innovative consultant to provide technical support to the Productivity, Trade, and Innovation Sector (PTI) in various activities in Brazil. You will work in the Trade and Investment Division (TIN) of the Inter-American Development Bank's Productivity, Trade, and Innovation Sector, which supports Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries in implementing innovative solutions for a more productive, open, and connected region. Our projects and applied research contribute to reducing the three main costs of trade: logistics, information, and regulation. Our areas of intervention include trade facilitation, export promotion, and investment attraction, as well as supporting the negotiation and implementation of trade agreements.
What you’ll do
- Support the Lead Specialist in Brazil with the coordination of activities related to the Interstate Consortium for Sustainable Development of the Legal Amazon.
- Assist the Lead Specialist in Brazil in coordinating and providing support for activities led by TIN in partnership with government agencies and entities, such as the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services (MDIC), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), the Ministry of Planning and Budget (MPO), the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA), ApexBrasil, among others.
- Coordinate with the Lead Specialist in Brazil and provide support for activities between TIN and the Brazilian private sector, such as AMCHAM, CNI, FIESP, SEBRAE, multinational companies, law firms, investment and commercial banks, academia, among others.
- Support the TIN team in preparing thematic analyses and related activities (e.g., workshops, working lunches, dissemination events, etc.) connected to trade and food security, investment attraction, digital trade, services trade, government procurement, among others.
What you'll need
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business Administration, International Trade, Law, or other relevant fields related to the role’s responsibilities.
- Experience: At least 9 years of progressive experience in trade and investment.
- Languages: Proficiency in English.
Requirements
- Citizenship: You are a citizen of Brazil or a citizen of one of our 48 member countries and eligible to obtain valid residency or legal permission to work in Brazil without requiring IDB sponsorship.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
- Type of contract: National Consultant Full-Time.
- Length of contract: 12 months.
