Context

Under the direct supervision of Chief of Mission, the Intern will work with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Timor-Leste, where migration-related challenges such as internal displacement, natural disasters, and economic vulnerabilities persist. IOM plays a critical role in addressing these issues through targeted interventions that support the government and communities in enhancing resilience and managing migration effectively.

Task description

• Develop and Implement M&E Frameworks: Design and implementation of comprehensive monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks to assess the progress, effectiveness,
and impact of IOM’s projects, focusing on key areas such as displacement, disaster preparedness, and community resilience. This includes setting clear performance indicators
and data collection methodologies.
• Data Collection, Analysis, and Interpretation: Conduct the systematic collection of qualitative and quantitative data to measure the outcomes of interventions. Conduct thorough analysis and interpretation of data to provide evidence-based insights that inform
decision-making, program adjustments, and strategy development.
• Report Preparation: Prepare accurate and timely reports for both internal and external stakeholders, including donors, government bodies, and partner organizations. Ensure that reports meet IOM’s standards, comply with donor requirements, and clearly com
Integration of M&E Findings: Collaborate closely with program teams to ensure that M&E findings and lessons learned are systematically incorporated into project planning and implementation. This enhances program effectiveness and ensures continuous improvement of project activities.
• Technical Assistance in Project Design: Provide technical support in designing project indicators, conducting baseline surveys, and developing evaluation tools. Ensure that these tools are aligned with project goals and effectively measure progress and impact.
Capacity Building and Training: Lead capacity-building initiatives by training staff, partners, and stakeholders on M&E methodologies and best practices. Equip teams with the skills necessary to carry out effective monitoring and evaluation activities independently.
• Meeting Organization and Facilitation: Organize, facilitate, and document regular meetings with key stakeholders, including partners, project teams, and working groups. These meetings serve to monitor project progress, address emerging challenges, and ensure alignment with project goals.
• Work Plan Development and Monitoring: Support the development, monitoring, and implementation of detailed project work plans. Ensure that activities are executed according to established timelines and that project objectives are consistently met.
• Regular Reporting and Updates: Prepare and submit regular updates on project activities, challenges, and outcomes to senior management and donors. Ensure transparency and accountability by providing detailed progress reports and highlighting key achievements and obstacles
