The World Bank’s Planet Vice Presidency helps countries tackle their most complex challenges in the areas of Agriculture and Food; Climate Change; Environment; Social Development; and Water. 

The Planet Vice Presidency hosts an Office of the Chief Economist (GSSCE).  The major functions of this Office are to support knowledge intensive activities in the Planet Vice Presidency, undertake research, promote collaboration and to liaise with the academic community. It seeks to empower teams with knowledge and information to deliver the best global advice to client countries.  The Office aims to serve as a small think-tank for the Vice Presidency to ensure that investment and advisory decisions are informed by the latest rigorous evidence.  The work program contains three interrelated pillars: knowledge creation and dissemination; building and maintaining capacity of staff within the Vice Presidency; and support customized needs of the Vice Presidency.  To deliver on its wide mandate the Office is seeking to hire a Senior Economist with outstanding analytical and communication skills.

The Korea Green Growth Trust Fund (KGGTF), housed within the Planet Vice Presidency Chief Economist Office, is a partnership between the World Bank Group (WBG) and the Republic of Korea, established in 2013 to support client countries in transitioning to a green development path. The primary goal of the KGGTF is to scale up and strengthen the WBG’s global green growth portfolio by leveraging Korea’s expertise and resources to assist client countries. This includes fostering sustainable development in developing countries through practical knowledge sharing, building a robust knowledge base, and enhancing capacity to implement green growth investments effectively.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The position of Program Analyst for the Korea Green Growth Trust Fund (KGGTF) will support designated activities related to KGGTF operations, including working with Task Team Leaders (TTLs) managing KGGTF programs, with a focus on Planet, Infrastructure, and Digital Transformation Vice Presidencies. It is expected that the candidate provides substantive operational, research, statistical and other analytic support to TTLs and KGGTF team. Also, may undertake administrative responsibilities ensuring efficient coordination of team activities.

The selected candidate will be assigned responsibility for a range of support operations, including but not limited to the following:

• Support KGGTF program administrative and operational needs based in the Republic of Korea.
• Support strong relationships with the donor and various partner ministries and public agencies in Korea, ensuring alignment and clear communication regarding the KGGTF work program, results, and strategic issues.
• Support development and maintenance of technical partnerships with counterparts on the green growth agenda.
• Support the KGGTF-related teams based in Korea and joint programs to monitor deliverables and results per agreed performance targets and indicators.
• Support in the preparation and supervision of KGGTF-funded projects in Korea - contributing to all stages of the project cycle. 
• Support regular program reviews to identify lessons learned and best practices, and contribute to their dissemination through knowledge exchange activities and events (online and offline).
• Support planning and coordination of KGGTF events, including stakeholder engagement, logistics, and content development.
• Participate in missions, meetings, and discussions - in an area of specialization - to provide technical inputs and guidance to counterparts on the appropriate scope, technology, costs, etc.
