Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Project Development and Reporting Officer in Lebanon and in close coordination with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer at IOM’s Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa and relevant units at Headquarters, and in coordination with unit leads of IOM Lebanon’s Programme Department, the Project Support Intern (M&E) will support the Programme Support Unit, and undertake the following tasks:
Responsibilities
1. Develop skills in creating, implementing, and tracking comprehensive monitoring and reporting for IOM projects and UN Response Plans, including data collection, reporting system development, and analysis.
2. Identify and analyze critical challenges, lessons learned, and best practices from monitoring findings, and communicate these effectively to benefit and improve IOM programmes.
3. Gain expertise in compiling reports for projects, UN response plans, and strategies.
4. Learn to monitor endorsement procedures and reporting schedules for IOM projects, through IOM’s project management platform PRIMA.
5. Conduct data collection and data entry for UN reporting platforms such as UN INFO and Lebanon Aid Tracking, through the global data platform, Activity Info.
6. Develop skills in preparing inputs for project development by working with programme managers, joining internal planning meetings and supporting new initiatives.
7. Support communications staff to utilize data and reporting for public relations; including through supporting the preparation of internal and external situation reports, press briefing notes, social media communications, human interest stories, and content for IOM Lebanon’s website.
8. Support with other related tasks may be required.
Qualifications
- Willingness to learn and adapt to a fast-paced working environment.
- Ability to communicate well in English.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programmes, especially Word and Excel.
- Interest in migration issues.
- Fluency in English and Arabic is required.

- Depending on experience and location, interns are granted a small monthly stipend to help offset costs. Interns benefiting from an internship allowance or scholarship granted by his/her university or other sponsoring body that includes financial remuneration or credits for coursework will not be eligible for the stipend.
- IOM covers Interns against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the assignment. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
