About this position
We are looking for a motivated and qualified advanced professional to join our Resource Mobilization Division (REM). The position requires knowledge of the socio-economic development challenges in the Latin American and Caribbean region and a professional experience of one of the following topics: sovereign sustainable debt, international financial architecture, risk-sharing mechanisms.
The team’s mission:
The REM Division, under the Global Partnerships Office (GPS), plays a pivotal role in leading the IDB Group’s efforts to expand its capacity to serve the Region, through the mobilization of partnerships that provide our region with (i) reimbursable and non-reimbursable resources for additional financing, (ii) knowledge, and (iii) innovation. The Division works on developing new and enhancing existing partnerships, in close coordination with relevant teams from our Vice Presidencies of Countries (VPC), Sectors (VPS), Finance and Administration (VPF), and Human Resources and Digital Transformation (VHR), respectively, and with IDB Invest and IDB Lab. In recent years, the Division has multiplied efforts towards the development of innovative ways to design donors contributions in order to leverage impact and scale up private capital mobilization. It aims at mobilizing resources through innovative financial instruments, including those involving balance sheet optimization, and to mobilize partnerships that support innovative finance initiatives across IDB, IDB Invest and IDB Lab.
The Global Partnerships Office (GPS) consists of the Resource Mobilization Division (REM); the Grants and Co-financing Management Unit (GCM); both located in Washington D.C., and the Representations in Asia (ASI) in Tokyo; and the Office in Europe (EUR) in Madrid.
What you’ll do
- Provide support to the Structured Partnerships team within the Resource Mobilization division with tasks including, but not limited to, identifying and developing strategic alliances and potential partnership opportunities for new financial instruments enabling private capital mobilization towards the financing of Sustainable Development Goals in the LAC region, in line with IDB priorities and in support of IDB Group's operational work.
- Participate in research related to the development of new financial instruments with partners, perform market research, and collect and analyze data on partnership opportunities in IDB member countries, including Asia and Europe, and possibly non-member countries to support IDB Group’s operational work.
- Contribute to the assessment and optimization of existing partnerships to improve and deepen their strategic impact across IDB Group projects and activities.
- Support GPS strategic communications efforts by contributing to a range of outputs including: (i) Publications, Op-Eds, and reports (both print and digital); (ii) Web content for GPS’s intranet and the IDB’s partnerships webpage; (iii) Materials for presentations and social media posts; (iv) Internal communications such as briefings and talking points for senior management; (v) CRM entries to maintain and update partner intelligence.
- Provide assistance in developing research analytical notes and material on global partnerships, resource mobilization, and development finance.
What you'll need
• Education: Bachelor´s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Finance, Economics, International Relations, Public Policy, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
• Experience: At least two years of experience in finance and understanding of private capital mobilization towards the financing of SDGs, in line with IDB priorities and in support of IDB Group's operational work.
• Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.

Type of contract and duration
•    International consultant Full-Time, 12 months (up to 36 months).
