About this position
We are looking for a strategic, collaborative, and dynamic IDB Invest Business-Aligned Senior Communications Specialist to join our Communications team, serving as a bridge between IDB and IDB Invest communication teams to ensure alignment and synergy across institutional messaging. As the IDB Invest Business-Aligned Senior Communications Specialist, you will be a part of the Communications Division (EXC/DCC), within IDB’s External Affairs and Communications Department (EXC). In this role, you will coordinate strategic communications initiatives that help position IDB Invest, in collaboration with the Director of Communications at IDB Invest.
IDB’s EXC Department is responsible for managing internal and external communications, expanding and maintaining the Bank’s brand, providing protocol services, and overseeing external outreach efforts to stakeholders, including civil society organizations and governmental entities.The DCC Division offers advisory services, expertise, and tools for dissemination, communications planning, and positioning with internal and external audiences. Additionally, it provides guidelines and advisory support on corporate brand standards and manages digital platforms, editorial content, and media relations. This includes advisory services to IDB Invest and IDB Lab. IDB Invest, a member of the IDB Group, is a multilateral development bank committed to promoting the economic development of its member countries in Latin America and the Caribbean through the private sector.
What you’ll do
Strategic Communications Leadership
· Act as a strategic liaison between IDB and IDB Invest communication teams to foster collaboration, alignment, and consistency across institutional messaging.
· Support IDB Group-wide campaigns and events through tailored communication strategies and content that position IDB Invest’s priorities.
Media Relations and Crisis Communications
· Serve as IDB Invest’s press officer and manage media relations for IDB Invest, including strategy development and liaising with journalists.
· Prepare IDB Invest spokespersons for interviews, including CEO and senior leadership.
· Facilitate crisis communications efforts, including monitoring reports, issue briefs, and coordination with internal teams and media contacts.
Digital Content and Channel Oversight
· Supervise the team responsible for managing content for IDB Invest’s social media channels and corporate blog, including multimedia content.
· Collaborate with regional and country communication officers to amplify IDB Invest’s messaging across local markets and platforms.
Data-Driven Strategy and Performance Monitoring
· Collaborate with the data analytics team to produce insightful reports, monitor performance, and inform communication strategies.
Vendor and Resource Management
· Oversee vendor relationships and contracts, ensuring service continuity and alignment with strategic goals.
What you'll need
• Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, International Relations, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
• Experience: At least seven (5) years of experience, preferably seven (7) years of progressive experience in strategic communications, media relations, crisis communications, and digital content management, preferably in international organizations and private sector.
• Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.
• Other Skills: Strong leadership and team management capabilities, excellent writing and editing skills, and the ability to develop and execute integrated communication strategies. Familiarity with media monitoring tools, digital analytics platforms, and vendor management processes related to communications services.

Type of contract and duration
• Staff: International: International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
