Volunteering Policy Manager
Location: UK-Flexible (Hybrid)
Salary: £45,500 to £49,333 per annum (plus ILW, if residing & working in London) (DOE)
Hours: 35 per week
Contract: Permanent

Step into a pivotal leadership role where your expertise in policy, governance, and quality assurance will shape how volunteering thrives across our organisation. You’ll lead the creation and evolution of inclusive, safe, and high-impact volunteering frameworks, working hand-in-hand with services and volunteers to embed best practice. From influencing strategic decisions to driving continuous improvement, this role offers the chance to make a lasting difference. What will a day in the life of a Volunteering Policy Manager involve?
  • Reviewing and updating volunteering policies to reflect best practice and legal standards.
  • Working with teams to embed quality assurance and improve volunteer experience.
  • Using data to spot trends and guide improvements in policy and practice.
  • Supporting colleagues with compliance checks and risk assessments.
  • Leading responses to internal and external policy consultations.
  • Building strong relationships across services to align volunteering with strategic goals.
To be a successful Volunteering Policy Manager, what will you need?
  • Proven leadership in policy development and governance, especially in volunteering.
  • Deep understanding of safeguarding, compliance, and organisational resilience.
  • Experience in quality assurance and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to interpret data to inform decisions and drive strategic change.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder influencing skills.
  • Background in volunteer management and team leadership, with line management experience.
