Our team and mission

Under the direct authority of the Directorate of Space Transportation (STS), Future Space Transportation Preparation (FLPP) accompanies European companies in maturing, demonstrating and applying the key enabling capabilities and technologies for space transportation – covering access to space, transport in space, and return from space.  

The Future Space Transportation Beyond LEO unit (STS-FL) works on diverse emerging topics such as in-space transportation (e.g. space logistics, in-space transportation vehicles, advanced in-space propulsion, orbital refilling infrastructures…), sustainability for space transportation (e.g. lifecycle assessment), software-centered technologies for space transportation (e.g. AI, digitalisation, digital twins, etc.), among others.

Topic of the internship: Future Space Transportation Ecosystem Events Support

 

As an intern, you will contribute to the international outreach of FLPP and federation of the future space transportation ecosystem, by playing a key role in organising the programme's bi-annual event. This event brings together 250 participants from across Europe, including industry leaders, innovators and representatives from national agencies and ESA. It is designed to award the signing of contracts, pitch innovative ideas, and foster networking and matchmaking opportunities among attendees.

As an intern, you will be at the heart of the event's organisation, gaining hands-on experience in event management, communication, and project coordination. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop essential skills in a dynamic and international environment, while contributing to the success of a high-profile event that enhances our programme's visibility and impact on the European stage.

You will be expected to support with the following tasks: 

 

  • coordination with various internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of the event;
  • liaison between the event team and participants, providing timely updates and gathering feedback to enhance the event experience;
  • overseeing the logistical aspects of the event;
  • management of participant registrations;
  • facilitation of networking and matchmaking opportunities (e.g. organisation of sessions and activities that encourage interaction and collaboration among attendees.).

 

An additional objective of the internship, time permitting:

 

  • provide ad-hoc support to the organisation of the regular events accompanying the FLPP procurement scheme and company match-making process (e.g., pitch days, convergence workshops, transverse working groups...).

Education

You must be a university student, preferably studying at master’s level. In addition, you must be able to prove that you will be enrolled at your University for the entire duration of the internship.

Additional requirements

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another ESA Member State language is an asset.
