Our team and mission
The ESA Member States Outreach Office is responsible for all media and public relations between the European Space Agency and its member states.
The team, based at ESA ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany focuses on Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Poland and the Czech Republic.
They work with governments, the press and the general public to inform and educate about all of our space activities, from astronauts to asteroids, Earth observation to satellites flying to Jupiter.

Topic of the internship: Digital content for international audiences
How do we engage with our target audiences? How can we use the available platforms to better reach out and communicate with them?
By working and learning with the professional team in ESA ESOC, you will develop your understanding and expertise in creating modern communication channels, aligned with the launch of ESA’s brand new portal.
You will learn how organisations develop and deploy integrated communications tools to ensure the delivery of a coherent message in a multilingual environment.
Your tasks will include investigating ways in which new articles and information sheets can be more readily accessible by the wider public, through the new ESA content management system.
It will also involve fact checking and researching, working on translation checks and, depending on your profile, contributing to the development of new audiovisual content for distribution.
Within a dynamic and friendly team, you will discover the methods behind corporate communication, including targeted political messaging as well as engaging stories designed for audiences of all ages.

Education
You must be a university student, preferably studying at master’s level. In addition, you must be able to prove that you will be enrolled at your University for the entire duration of the internship.
Additional requirements
The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Due to the nature of this position, native-level proficiency in German is mandatory.
Knowledge of Polish and/or Czech language is an asset.
Knowledge of another ESA Member State language is an asset.
