SCOPE OF WORK/JOB OVERVIEW:
The IRC’s integrated protection portfolio includes Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE), Child Protection (CP), and Protection Rule of Law (PRoL, or broader humanitarian protection) for individuals and communities. The IRC works directly to implement essential activities while also collaborating with international and local organizations, as well as government authorities. Protection interventions are being expanded to include community-based protection and MHPSS across all project locations.
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Protection Information Management Officer, the Information Management Assistant will ensure access to up-to-date information on the affected population to support the design and implementation of appropriate humanitarian and advocacy interventions. He/She will record, maintain, and assist in analyzing data collected by the protection team. He/She will also ensure the timely and high-quality reporting of deliverables on a weekly basis.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with Protection teams to ensure all programming activities are fully documented, including systematic and timely data collection as required under the grant and for IRC MEAL purposes.
- Supporting and maintaining an information management system dealing with all data from protection sector.
- Ensure accurate and consistent entry of data received from field staff into relevant databases.
- Support in the training of PRoL /WPE/ CP teams on the use of the databases as well as other data collection and or registration tools/software, in collaboration with the relevant staff.
- Assist in developing an information management database for recording, analyzing, and reporting relevant protection data collected in the field.
- Maintain and further develop the structure and format of the database(s) as required, incorporating suggestions and amendments from the protection team and partners, in collaboration with and under the guidance of the Protection Manager.
- Assist the MEAL and Protection teams to conduct needs assessments.
- Support the assessment of progress against project objectives and targets, identify implementation issues, provide solutions, and implement modifications as required.
- Support the Protection Information Management team in preparing reports as per set schedules (monthly, quarterly, and annually) on grant activities, indicators, and achievements.
- Contribute to brainstorming innovative solutions and generating adaptable ideas to improve workflows and enhance efficiency.
- Provide additional updates and data analysis as requested by supervisor.

Position Reports to: Senior Protection Information Management Officer
Position directly supervises: N/A
Indirect Reporting: Senior Integrated Protection Manager
Other Internal and/or external contacts:
Internal: The position will be expected to work closely with CP, PROL and WPE Managers, Senior Officers, Case workers, facilitators and MEAL Team to ensure accurate, comprehensive and up to date reporting.
External: N/A
Job Requirements:
Education:
- At least an undergraduate degree in Arts and Humanities or related field.
Work Experience:
- At least two years of prior professional experience in a similar position, preferably with an international organization.
- Experience in programming Microsoft Excel and Access Databases including minimum 2 years designing, constructing, and managing databases.
- Excellent reporting skills using Access reporting tools and sound knowledge of MS Access.
- Data analysis and charting/visualizing skills.
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
- Belief in human rights, including gender equality.
- Demonstrated protection experience and understanding of working with vulnerable populations and basic humanitarian principles.
- Demonstrated information management experience, establishing information managements systems.
- Excellent written reporting and oral communication skills in both English and Arabic.
- Ability to interpret, analyze and synthesize information in a fast-paced environment.
- Working experience with an NGO and/or international organization.
- Good organizational skills, timeliness, ability to determine priorities and great attention to detail.
- Proactive, flexible, team spirited and willing to learn.
- Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and experience with digitalization software is an asset.
Language Skills:
- Oral and Written English and Arabic language
Working Environment:
- Standard office work environment, with occasional travel to the field
