Overview of positionEstablished in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non- governmental partners.IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Under the overall supervision of the Senior Protection Associate, and the direct supervision of the Senior Protection Assistant (AVM), and in close coordination with other colleagues, the successful candidate will conduct all steps of the case management process for the assigned cases.
Role objectivesUndertake regular visits to assigned locations in Ben Walid, or at the IOM office, to identify and follow up with protection cases.
Conduct vulnerability screenings and in-depth assessments in assigned locations to help identify the urgent needs and possible solutions.
Prepare assistance plans and ensure timely specialized protection support and accurate referrals to health, legal, shelter, psychosocial, education, and other protection services, and follow up to ensure access and effectiveness of support under the supervision of the Senior Protection Assistant (Child Protection).
Inform beneficiaries of all relevant services available. Refer cases to relevant partner organizations and international organizations for appropriate follow-up and/or to other units within IOM for their respective follow-up;
Work closely with community members, local leaders, and other stakeholders to promote protection mechanisms, deliver awareness campaigns, and support vulnerable populations. The role will include identifying protection risks, disseminating information, and advocating for solutions that align with community needs
Undertake regular protection monitoring visits to assigned locations where migrants, IDPs, returnees and vulnerable host communities may reside to assess protection risks and concerns.
Facilitate focus group discussions, Community dialogues, household visits, and interviews to collect qualitative data on protection risks. Map and identify protection needs, risks, and priorities within the community
Maintain up-to-date case records of all assigned cases and promptly complete all data entry and reporting requirements;
Carry out administrative duties as requested;
Facilitate events with target groups, State actors and service providers in the field on selected protection concerns if required;
Perform other duties as may be assigned.
