Overview of positionEstablished in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non- governmental partners.IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Under the overall supervision of the Senior Protection Associate, and the direct supervision of the Senior Protection Assistant (AVM), and in close coordination with other colleagues, the successful candidate will conduct all steps of the case management process for the assigned cases.
Role objectives
-
Undertake regular protection monitoring visits to assigned locations where migrants, IDPs, returnees and vulnerable host communities may reside.

Conduct vulnerability screenings and in-depth assessments and prepare protection assessment reports to help identify the urgent needs and possible solutions. Encode all case management assistance information in MIMOSA.

Assist in identifying the urgent protection needs and possible solutions, as well as longer-term plans.

Prepare assistance plans and provide regular, timely and comprehensive follow-up and referrals within IOM and to relevant partner organizations and international organizations in coordination with specialized protection colleagues and under the supervision of the Senior Protection Assistant.

Identify and refer vulnerable cases for voluntary humanitarian return (VHR), follow up on procedures with the VHR team, embassy representatives, and the receiving mission, including family tracing.

Under the supervision of senior protection staff, facilitate focus group discussions with target groups, state actors and service providers in the field on selected protection concerns.

Work to identify and support community focal points/representatives/host families to participate in community-based protection programmes.

Adhere to IOM’s protection principles, confidentiality, as well as IOM gender, child safeguarding andPSEApolicies and data protection protocols in all aspects of fieldwork and case handling.
