Background
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
The UN Women Office in Myanmar focusses on Peace and Security with a significant component of its work on supporting women leadership, economic empowerment, peace and humanitarian action. This includes research, policy advocacy and capacity building on a spectrum of issues from a gender equality and women’s rights perspective.
The consultant will work under direct supervision of Programme Specialist and support in simultaneous or constitutive interpretation for Myanmar to English and English to Myanmar for activities conducted based on requirements. The deliverable and confirmation of service will be subject to issuance of purchase order.
Duties and Responsibilities
Consecutive/Simultaneous Interpretation including translation in chat box from English into Myanmar vice versa for Virtual or online (Zoom) Workshops/ Meetings (costed per hour). Estimated requirement from 17th November 2025 to 30th November 2027 will be 220 hours.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- At least a bachelor’s degree in any related field.
- Linguistic certification will be an assets.
Experience:
- At least 4 years’ professional experience in English-Myanmar-English interpretation services
- Experience in interpretation for UN agencies or other development organizations is preferable.
- Familiarity with Programme management/Results Based Management, CEDAW, Gender and Development, Women, Peace and Security, Migration terminologies and humanitarian terminologies is required.
