Job Description
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Office (HoO) in Belize and direct supervision of the Resources Management Officer (RMO); and, in collaboration with relevant programs at IOM Belize. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing standard driving for the Mission and its programs, logistics supporting program activities in line with IOM’s rules and regulations, security of premises and monitoring of surveillance cameras.
Responsibilities
1. Drive the vehicle(s) assigned to the Mission, ensuring the safe transportation of the Head of Office and any other staff members as instructed.
2. Guide, monitor and organize the transportation schedules for the programs administered by IOM Belize Office;
3. Manage the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle to ensure roadworthiness of the vehicles. This includes daily check of tires, brakes, engine oil, fan belt, etc;
4. Arrange for minor repairs and ensures that the vehicles are kept clean;
5. Ensure that the vehicles undertake regular service intervals and that a record of such service is made;
6. Find the most direct and safe route over the best available roads to the destination.
7. Ensure that the IOM vehicle(s) is used only for official/authorized business, as advised by the supervisor;
8. Make sure that the daily log sheet is prepared, and a monthly report is prepared summarizing statistics linked to mileage, fuel consumption, etc. for the vehicle;
9. Notify about the expiration of traffic cards, required maintenance and any other damage that may be observed in the vehicle to the Supervisor.
10. Ensure that in case of accident, supervisors are informed, and a police report is obtained.
11. Keep a high degree of confidentiality and discreteness in discussions, which involves IOM and its officials. Take proper actions to reduce potential security threats to IOM officials and/or property within the immediate vicinity of the vehicle and along transport routes;
12. Meet official personnel at the airport(s) and facilitate immigration and customs formalities as required as well as assist in the facilitation of beneficiaries traveling under the AVR program;
13. Collect and deliver mail, documents, pouches, and other communications/items from courier services, the post office, airport, government agencies, other UN agencies, institutions, project sites, etc., to take and deliver items and communications; keep records as required;
14. When needed, assist the IOM Belize staff in performing simple clerical duties such as making and answering telephone calls, making photocopies, keeping records, assistance in field activities, and maintain fleet management records.
15. Provide driving and logistics support to the project activities on the scheduled weekends.
16. Manage the maintenance of the office (regular checks, keep the ventilation systems in good conditions, security cameras)
17. Monitor the security cameras during the day and at intervals outside of office hours.
18. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
• High school degree/certificate with minimum 3 years of relevant working experience or bachelor’s degree with minimum 1 year of relevant working experience from an accredited institution.
• Valid national driver’s licence.
EXPERIENCE
• Knowledge of driving rules and regulations.
• Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles
• Skills in minor vehicle repairs.
• Knowledge of radio, email, telephone and other applications.
SKILLS
