Job Description
Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments, migrants and host communities.
Over the years, IOM has expanded and affirmed its role as the leading Organization assisting the Government of Pakistan to ensure humane and orderly movement of people by devising practical solutions to shifting dynamics of migration, protecting, assisting and supporting vulnerable migrant populations, promoting international cooperation on migration issues and serving as a key source of advice on migration policy, research, data and practice Pakistan remains the third-largest refugee-hosting country globally, hosting Afghan refugees holding Proof of Registration (PoR) cards, Afghan Citizenship Card (ACC) holders and undocumented Afghan migrants.
IOM supports the Government of Pakistan in the implementation of cross-border programming supporting Afghan migrants and refugees and to contribute towards promoting peaceful co-existence with host communities. In line with the strategic Comprehensive Action Plan for Afghanistan and Neighbouring Countries (2021-2024), IOM Pakistan will support the most vulnerable communities hosting Afghan migrants and refugees to address humanitarian needs and reduce protection risks for people on the move, in parallel to anticipatory action to mitigate the crisis impact, save lives and livelihoods, and enable societies to transition and recover towards sustainable development.
Under the overall supervision of the WASH & SNFI Programme Manager and under direct supervision of the National WASH Officer, the incumbent will support the development and implementation of IOM WASH and Shelter activities, including coordination with Implementing Partners, preparation of reports, data collection and analysis, and reviewing reports and other documentation shared by Implementing Partners.
Responsibilities
- Support the collection and completion of required documentation in line with IOM WASH & Shelter Programme checklists.
- Update and review WASH & Shelter programme activity databases regularly, in coordination with IOM field staff and partner staff.
- Assist in capturing, documenting, and reporting information and data from field in a timely manner.
- Under the guidance of the National WASH Officer and field teams, support the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly, and project completion reports by compiling data, organizing contributions from project staff, and formatting information for final reporting.
- Support the organization of trainings, workshops, and field visits as required.
- Assist in compiling data analysis summaries and feedback on project activities, contributing to project reviews, evaluations, and audits as needed.
- Provide guidance or orientation to programme team members on the use of databases and tools.
- Collect and organize field data, compile analysis, pictures, and videos, and assist in preparing materials for project reporting.
- Coordinate with partner organizations on contract-related matters, including processing of financial payments within IOM.
- Assist in maintaining and updating databases and tools to reflect ongoing programme activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma with six years of professional experience; or,
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Development, International Relations, Political Sciences or a related field from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience supporting the implementation of WASH and Shelter activities in humanitarian contexts.
- Experience in activity monitoring, information management, data analysis, and reporting.
- Experience collaborating with Implementing partners.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to interact effectively with team members and partners.
- Ability to compile, organize, and present information accurately.
- Capable of working under limited supervision and following established procedures.
- Works effectively with partners, service providers, local authorities, stakeholders, beneficiaries, and the broader community to support country office or regional objectives.
For this position, fluency in English and working knowledge of Urdu is required (oral and written).
