About the Project Office
UNOPS supports both humanitarian response and early recovery in Gaza. Currently, UNOPS support in Gaza focuses on key humanitarian enablers, including on access, via the Security Council-mandated UN 2720 Mechanism and the Access Support Unit (ASU), humanitarian fuel and energy, and mine action. Operations are envisaged to continue in the coming period with a focus in line with the UNOPS mandate: (i) infrastructure construction and rehabilitation, (ii) procurement and (iii) project management.

Job Specific Context
UN Security Council Resolution 2720 (2023) mandates the establishment of a mechanism “for accelerating the provision of humanitarian relief consignments to Gaza through states which are not party to the conflict. The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) was requested by the UN Secretary-General to design, set-up, operationalise, and manage the Mechanism in support of the Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator, and in line with the Security Council Resolution 2720(2023).
Role Purpose
The Reporting Officer is responsible for coordinating, drafting, and ensuring the quality of reports related to project activities, including donor and Mechanism database reporting. The role involves liaising with relevant actors, developing reporting formats, providing quality assurance, and producing information products to support strategic and operational decision-making.
Functions / Key Results Expected
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Project Manager, the Reporting Officer will undertake the following functions:
● Coordinates inputs to and draft reports related to project activities, including donor and Mechanism database reporting;
● Liaises with relevant humanitarian actors to gather and share information on the work of the Mechanism and project;
● Develops appropriate reporting formats to meet all reporting requirements of the Project.
● Coordinates the finalisation of donor reporting with the relevant internal units and the Senior Project Manager;
● Establishes a reporting schedule and ensures the timely submission of reports as identified;
● Provides quality assurance, including data verification, on all reports and information products produced by the project by editing and consolidating all reports prepared by the project;
● Liaises with the Partnerships Advisor and the Senior Project Manager, regarding the dissemination of reports and the accuracy of information included in visibility materials and publications;
● Drafts briefing notes, talking points and other correspondence related to the project;
● Produces and updates information products such as maps, charts and info-graphics by turning data into graphical products to convey messages and a storyline as well as support strategic and operational decision-making;
● Acts as a focal point/central instrument for the collection, analysis and dissemination of information relevant to the project;
● Organises, designs and analyses datasets relevant to the project;
● Develops data standards and advises on their application;
Understands, documents and ensures the quality of high-value data for accuracy, consistency and comparability;
● Conducts other duties as required by the Senior Project Manager.

Required
Master’s degree (or equivalent) in political affairs, international relations, communications, journalism, public relations or related fields
A first-level university degree in the above-mentioned areas or related field in combination with 7 years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
Technical/Professional License with 6 years of relevant experience
Technical/Professional Diploma with 9 years of relevant experience
Experience Requirements
Required
At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in political and/or donor reporting, communications, public relations, project development, data analysis, data visualization and report writing is required.
Experience in the use of various research sources, including electronic sources on the internet, intranet and other databases is required
Desired
Previous experience in reporting within the UN system or an INGO in an international setting is highly desirable.
Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages, including Google is highly desirable.
