The Sr. Learning Design and Communications Specialist provides instructional design and communications support and is expected to manage one or more Learning Specialists. The Sr. Learning Design and Communications Specialist is a member of the Learning and Organizational Development team, a part of the People Team business unit, and plays an important role in moving instructional design from concept through development to delivery. The Sr. Learning Design and Communications Specialist is expected to fulfill the following functions: identifies and collaborates with subject matter experts (SMEs) to prioritize and design instructional materials, incorporates adult learning methodologies, ensures that instructional materials are accessible and inclusive of target audiences, leads team’s communication strategy, and collaborates with colleagues to ensure that course rooms on the LMS are operational and appealing to the target audience. This position reports to the Associate Director, Learning Design and Strategy.
We’re Looking for You:
The Sr. Learning Design and Communications Specialist is responsible for designing instructional and communication materials to advance learning and organizational development within TNC. The Sr. Specialist will develop and design courses, curriculum, videos, and job aids among other instructional materials for self-paced, live and hybrid learning environments. The Sr. Specialist will collaborate with facilitators and the Monitoring Evaluation Learning and Reporting Specialist to review learner feedback and track learner outcomes which may require edits to instructional materials. This position is responsible for leading the editing and development of live and online learning materials. The Sr. Specialist must be proficient in Articulate 360 of similar platforms, video production, and Adobe or similar platforms and be able to mentor and/or train others in these applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE
Manage staff and oversee consultants.
Assess knowledge, skills, and behavior needs/gaps and conduct research to inform instructional design.
Design learning interventions to address needs/gaps using a defined instructional design approach, adult learning methodologies and experiential learning.
Use multimedia tools for effective instructional experiences.
Identify consultants to achieve work plan activities related to instructional design and communication.
Identify opportunities to leverage AI into instructional design and learner experience.
Lead the development and implementation of the team’s communication strategy.
Design communication materials including infographics, newsletters, reports, invitations, and videos.
Oversee the design and troubleshooting of course rooms posted on the Learning Management System (LMS).
Design, update and manage multiple SharePoint pages.
Occasional travel up to 10% as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 5 years related work experience in area(s) of specialization or equivalent combination.
Experience coordinating and leading projects.
Experience responding to HR related questions and problems from employees/management.
Experience in one or more of the following areas: database management and spreadsheet software; constructing and producing reports; data input, manipulation, and analysis.
Experience working with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint; Articulate 360 or similar platforms and Adobe.
Desired Qualifications
Advanced understanding of video production, graphic design, and Moodle or Moodle related platforms.
Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
Experience managing staff and/or consultants.
Experience in interactive platforms such as Mural.
Experience with monitoring and evaluation of learning.
Experience facilitating and producing live virtual events.
Experience using SharePoint.
Salary Information:
The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $65,000 – $100,000. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
