About this position

The Social Protection and Labor Markets Division (SPL) is dedicated to strengthening social protection systems and labor markets in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a focus on promoting inclusion, access to quality employment, well-being, and autonomy across all stages of life—from childhood to older age. SPL is looking for a Graphic Design professional to support the SPL Communications team.

What you’ll do

The consultant will develop the following tasks:
Coordinate and/or develop graphic materials to communicate the SPL Communications Plan, in line with IDB corporate identity and strategy. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Designing the visual concept and materials (look and feel) for major annual publications, events, communication campaigns, banners, badges, headers, invitations, and infographics related to the division's work, as well as any other visual or graphic materials for internal and external communications.
• Designing social media image packages in multiple formats, ensuring compliance with IDB Communications Department requirements.
• Developing graphics for internal and external newsletters or mailings.
• Keeping websites and blogs updated with visual material.
• Proposing and coordinating visual concepts for promotional activities, merchandising, and outreach campaigns, ensuring alignment with IDB branding guidelines.
• Providing guidance and technical advice on external visual materials, print specifications, dimensions, resolution, and material types; coordinating with vendors when necessary to ensure quality and consistency of printed materials and compliance with IDB guidelines.
• Assisting teams in identifying appropriate images for different thematic areas.
• Providing graphic support and advice for presentations to authorities and technical specialists when designated as a division priority, enhancing the visual creativity of strategic PowerPoint presentations, ensuring proper layout, icons, diagrams, infographics, formatting, and translating technical information into clear and visually engaging narratives.
• Creating editable Microsoft Office templates (Word and PowerPoint) for the Division to support document and presentation needs.
• Maintaining the SPL photo and video libraries with updated material and collaborating in the creation of photo reports and short videos of bank projects.
• Supporting the development of audiovisual materials for videos, ensuring visuals comply with the bank’s brand guide.
• Delivering high-quality digital files in editable and exportable formats (AI, PSD, PPT, PNG, JPG, PDF), according to IDB branding guidelines, and ensuring adaptation of materials to different languages when needed.
• Ensuring timely deliverables in accordance with SPL’s editorial and events workplan.
• Providing support in logistics and communication products for the effective implementation of the Division’s communication strategy.

What you'll need

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in graphic design.
  • Experience: Two years of relevant professional experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience in the field of communications.
  • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

Technical competencies:

               Proven experience in graphic design, preferably within international organizations or development institutions.

               Strong command of Adobe Express; proficiency in other Adobe Creative Suite tools is an asset.

               Knowledge of social media formats, accessibility standards, and brand application in digital and print contexts.

               Attention to detail, creativity, and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
