SOS Children’s Villages Ghana is a child welfare organization that provides stable, Family-Like Care (FLC) for children in need. We also offer social services to families at risk through our Family Strengthening Projects. We currently operate in four locations: Tema, Asiakwa, Kumasi, and Tamale, with our national office located in Accra. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and dynamic persons for appointment on our EU–Ghana Youth Empowerment Program “Spark Change Makers” (Empowering Youth-Led CSOs and Social Entrepreneurs)
Position: Youth Empowerment Officer
Duty Post: Asokore Mampong
Duration: 40 months (contract renewable based on performance and availability of funds)
Role Overview
The Youth Empowerment Officer will play a key role in coordinating and delivering youth-focused activities under the project. This includes supporting capacity-building programmes, promoting youth engagement in governance, and helping young social entrepreneurs develop sustainable and impactful businesses. The Officer will work closely with local partners, youth-led organizations, and government institutions to ensure that young people, especially women, persons with disabilities, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds, are meaningfully involved in all stages of the project.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Sociology, Youth Development, Business Administration, Social Work, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
- At least 3–5 years of experience in youth development, social entrepreneurship, or community empowerment, preferably with an NGO or international project.
- Proven experience in planning and facilitating youth training, mentorship, and community engagement programmes.
- Understanding of Ghana’s youth development policies, entrepreneurship ecosystem, and local governance systems.
- Working experience with youth-led organizations, social enterprises, or cooperatives is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Good report writing skills.
- Ability to communicate in some of the local Ghanaian languages.
- Strong digital literacy, including Microsoft Office, using online collaboration tools, and social media for youth engagement.
