Job Description

Context
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (COM) and direct supervision by the Head of Programme Support Unit and in close coordination with the Regional Project Development Officer at the Regional Office and relevant Units at Headquarters, the incumbent will support aspects of project development, reporting and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Support the preparation of results-based concept notes and project proposals, compiling background information, organizing documentation, and assisting the Programme Support Unit in aligning submissions with donor requirements and organizational priorities.
- Lead PRIMA-related processes for IOM Syria, including the timely upload, review and updating of project information, concept notes and budgets, and coordinating with relevant colleagues to maintain accurate and complete records.
- Work closely with M&E colleagues to keep the established MEAL system updated with programme achievements, facilitate access for programme staff, and compile data for use in reporting and internal planning.
- Coordinate inputs for internal and external situation reports and other reporting products, consolidating information from relevant units to highlight IOM Syria’s achievements by project, donor, and programme area.
- Regularly research, follow-up, compile, analyse and present information/data on national, regional and international developments, reports, and other relevant documentation, highlighting noteworthy issues for the consideration of appropriate parties.
- Support Programme Support colleagues in identifying realistic funding opportunities by reviewing calls for proposals, compiling donor information, preparing donor profiles, and gathering information needed to guide resource-mobilization efforts.
- Participate in meetings and conferences; maintain effective liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.
- Coordinate the preparation of correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, narrative and financial reports; ensure status reports are prepared and submitted in a timely manner.
- Support the endorsement and PRIMA upload process for concept notes and project proposals and assist Project Managers in compiling information for donor reports in coordination with relevant units in the CO and RO, in line with IOM policies, standards and internal procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma with seven years of relevant experience; or,
- Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
- Experience in project support, reporting, fundraising or programme development with UN, international or national Organizations.
- Experience contributing to donor reports, project documentation and funding submissions.
- Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups is an advantage.
- Experience working in a multicultural environment and coordinating with international humanitarian organizations, governmental or non-governmental institutions is an advantage.
Skills
- Strong drafting, editing and information-synthesis skills.
- Solid organizational and coordination abilities, with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in data compilation and basic analysis to support reporting and project development.
- Ability to work independently on multiple priorities and deliver under tight timelines.
Languages
- For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written) and working knowledge of Arabic
