Job Description

The purpose of this role is to provide the intern with exposure to procurement operations while ensuring that the procurement team benefits from additional support in executing daily tasks. This mutually beneficial arrangement allows the intern to gain practical experience and the organization to enhance workflow efficiency. 

The internship will run for a period of 3 months starting from the start date. Working hours will be 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility depending on academic commitments.

Reporting Structure

Under the overall supervision of the Procurement and Logistics Officer and the direct supervision of the Supply Chain Officer, and in close coordination with programme managers and relevant units, the (Intern will be responsible for the following tasks:

  1. Administrative Support- Procurement Related
  2. Vendor Management- Monitor vendor performance and escalate any discrepancies to the procurement team.
  3. Procurement Process Assistance- Assist in the evaluation of supplier bids and quotations based on pre-defined criteria.
  4. Research and Analysis - Support procurement data analysis, including spend tracking, order management, and performance evaluation.
  5. Prepare weekly reports on open commitments.
  6. Perform any other duty that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in the final year of a bachelor’s degree or be enrolled in a graduate programme or have completed a university degree within the last 12 months.
  • knowledge of English (oral and written) is MANDATORY; knowledge of Dari or Pashto is an advantage
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and able to manage data with attention to detail.
  • Motivated to learn and work in a cross-functional humanitarian team.

  • Intern must be based in or able to travel to the Kabul office.
