What we do
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.
Purpose
In collaboration with, and under the direct supervision of the Hospital Project Manager and technical supervision of the MHPSS Programme Manager, the Psychologist contributes technically to the implementation of MHPSS activities in line with the ICRC MHPSS framework. S/he is responsible for supporting with the continued development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the mental health and psychosocial support activities for all programmes, alongside the Hospital Project Manager and MHPSS Program Manager. S/he guarantees technical quality, alignment with the Delegation and Tyre Subdelegations priorities and strategy, as well as integrating ethical and do no harm considerations throughout the delivery of activities in Lebanon.
Accountabilities & functional responsibilities
- Ensures that physiotherapy needs are assessed and defined with regard to the population in need of physiotherapy/physical rehabilitation, in coordination with the hospital/physical rehabilitation project team and in close collaboration with professional experts (e.g. surgeons, psychologists, ortho-prosthetists).
- Ensures the continuum of care by referring individuals in need of further rehabilitation or mental health support or PHC services, after their discharge to the appropriate structure.
- Ensures the implementation of ICRC physiotherapy standards in collaboration with the respective partners and supported facilities.
- Assess the hospital physiotherapy staff’ needs and performance, providing regular feedback and ongoing training and capacity building.
- Deliver training and coaching within his/her specialty based on ICRC internal guidelines and internationally validated recommendations.
- Contributes to developing professional relationships; advocates health promotion activities and scholarly practice, so that service users benefit to the utmost from ongoing learning.
- Effectively follow up on stock requests, the acquisition and maintenance of physiotherapy equipment and supplies, assistive devices and mobility aids, in consultation with the logistic and administration teams.
- As a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), the physiotherapist is present in MDT rounds, clinic, and discussions in TeGH, MGH and any new supported hospital to ensure that patient planning, delivery of assistive devices, and physiotherapy sessions meets the ICRC quality standards.Develops guidelines, and SOPs to ensure that the ICRC standards are respected and implemented.
- Identifies and Assists Continuous Professional Development trainings for Physiotherapists.
- Reports equipment failure and ensures maintenance of property in ICRC supported hospital structure.
- Participate in the Planning for Result, and ensure administrative tasks (e.g. consultancy contracts, MoU) are implemented.
Certifications / Education required
- Master's degree in clinical psychology
- Valid License to practice in Lebanon.
Professional experience required
- 3 years of professional experience in a hospital setting. with minimum 2 years of experience in MHPSS program.

What we offer
- Salary Package: 2’041 – 2’981 USD/Month (As per ICRC salary scale, salary setting processes will determine fair setting in coherence with the qualifications of the applicant and the requirements of the job).
- 13th Month of salary paid in December, pro rata basis in accordance with the period worked.
- Annual Leave: 20 calendar working days of paid leave per year, pro rata basis in accordance with the period worked.
- Health Insurance: 90% of premium fees under class B, coverage include: Doctor visits, Medicines, Therapy services, etc.
- International Retirement Saving Plan (IRSP): a contribution valued at 11.5% of your monthly salary, these savings are paid by the end of service as a lump sum.
- Other benefits subject to internal rules and regulations: High Cost of Living Allowance (HCLA), Schooling allowance, eyeglasses, designated personal training budget for learning opportunities.

- Working Schedule: Monday till Friday, from 8 Am till 5 Pm.
- Type of contract: Fixed Term, 1year (Renewable based on performance and need for position).
