Mission and objectives
The mandate of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) was established by the Security Council in its resolution 1244 (1999). The primary and overarching objectives of UNMIK are to ensure conditions for a peaceful and normal life for all inhabitants of Kosovo, strengthen and consolidate peace, security, and stability, and promote and protect human rights for all people.
Context
All references to Kosovo shall be understood to be in the context of Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999).
Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
Task description Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Chief Medical Officer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Medical doctor will undertake the following roles and responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
Provide primary health care services to UN staff and their eligible dependents including cases under observation in Mitrovica dispensary; Provide emergency medical services including prehospital and advanced cardiac life support in response to accidents or life-threatening medical conditions prior evacuation to the next level of medical care, Be on standby for emergencies when and as required; Referral and follow up of patients in outside medical facilities. Facilitate access to specialists and necessary investigations in receiving medical facilities to ensure proper care of the staff and dependents. Escort patients in medical evacuations as and when required. This includes in-trip medical care; Coordinate with Pristina clinic for awareness and health prevention campaigns.
Covid19 cases management.
Medico Administrative duties:
Undergo the necessary trainings organized or recommended by UNMIK Medical Unit; Follow up on medical reports and other documentations for patients under care in contracted facilities; · Perform medico-administrative tasks like data entry in EarthMed, advising staff on medical rules and regulations, sick leave, travel clearance, medical statistics, Accompanying the chief medical officer in assessment visits of medical facilities; Ensure the readiness of UNMIK medical facility in Mitrovica. This includes working with the nurse to keep an updated stock of medications and disposables, regular check of the equipment and ambulance serviceability; Under the supervision and instruction of the Chief Medical Officer, the UNV Medical Doctor may liaise with designated Medevac /referral hospitals, KFOR hospitals.
