Department and Team background: Within the Department of Risk Management and Compliance, the Operational Risk Control and Excellence Unit focuses on enhancing the Fund’s non-financial risk management procedures, processes and tools.
Internship Assignment
The Intern will provide support to key projects and will have the opportunity to learn and expand their experiences in corporate operational risk assessment, process improvement and internal control.
Under the overall guidance of the designated primary and alternate supervisors within the Operational Risk, Control and Excellence Unit, the Intern is expected to:
- Support the Project Risk and Opportunity Mapping project by ensuring proper coordination of the working group and researching risk management and internal control best practices.
- Support the Risk and Control Self-Assessment and control testing exercise by coordinating workshops and drafting process documentation (walkthrough minutes, flowcharts, standard operating procedures) highlighting risks and internal controls.
- Support processes improvement initiatives
- Contribute to monthly reports by collecting and analyzing data.
- Shadow in meetings with project teams and stakeholders.
- Assist with the management of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) system
- Perform other functions, as may be appropriate under the conditions of the internship.
Requirements and qualifications
- Enrolled in Master’s program in business, finance, climate change, sustainability or related fields;
- Knowledge and experience with operational risk management, audit, internal control and the COSO framework
- Good understanding and experience in operations of international organization is an added advantage;
- Proficiency in using standard software programs: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access; Experience with Visio is an advantage
- Excellent writing and presentation skills;
- Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations language, in particular French and Spanish, and/or Portuguese is an advantage.
