KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):

  • Coordinate emergency preparedness and relief activities in the context of WFP operations in Hirshabelle.

  • Provide technical support and assist in the development and implementation of relief programmes in accordance with WFP policy and guidelines.

  • Contributes to developing plans for anticipatory action based on pre-determined triggers and in coordination with humanitarian partners.

  • Manage, prioritize, and plan for resources to ensure that activities are implemented according to plan and in coordination with relevant colleagues across functional areas.

  • Review and present project proposals for relief activities to the Country Project Committee (CPC) and follow up on issues raised by the committee.

  • Prepare a range of reports and data analysis (e.g. food assistance needs, resource utilization, programme status, performance) and highlight trends/issues ensuring deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control.

  • Liaise with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities.

  • Participate in food security data collection, analysis, and dissemination, particularly FSNAU and Food Security Cluster, and work closely with partners to strengthen data quality, accuracy, and consistency to build credible performance evidence.

  • Contribute towards quality capacity assessment of CPs and Partnerships evaluations

  • Participate in the food security cluster meetings on behalf of WFP.

  • Perform COMET data by capturing commodities dispatched or rather received, stock balances, internal partner movement, distributed food, and above all, prepared Food Release Notes for logistics to release STOs, pipeline management, and making necessary follow-up with logistics.

  • Provide support to relief CPs on SCOPE registration.

  • Disseminate Top-up and redemption reports to partners.

  • Contribute to the monthly food distribution plans.

  • Assesses CP scope kit needs and management.

  • Coordinate and communicate with local partners, agencies, NGOs and government institutions to perform accurate food security analyses and to ensure efficient delivery of food assistance.

  • Act as a point of contact for resolution of a range of operational queries and problems within a specific technical area of responsibility.

  • Perform other related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Completion of secondary school education OR University Degree (Diploma/Bachelor) in food security, nutrition, public health, community development, law, humanitarian, humanities and social sciences or any other relevant field to international development assistance.

Experience: At least Six (6) years of relevant experience with a secondary School Certificate Or University Degree (Diploma/Bachelor’s) with a minimum of two (2) or more years of experience in food security projects, Relief, Nutrition, SafetyNet, M&E or livelihood related program activities.

Languages: Fluent knowledge (proficiency/level C) of English and Somali language.

Knowledge and Skills Required: 

  • Experience monitoring stock status and inspections

  • Solid knowledge of humanitarian work, standards, and principles.

  • Very good understanding of food security and related interventions.

  •  Experience working in fragile context and or emergency settings.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing.

  • Solid analytical skills and capacity to synthesize complex information. Ability to plan and coordinate.

  • Ability to work and deliver quality inputs under pressure.
