To build support for UN Women’s vision shared in the Strategic Plan, the Division of Communications and Advocacy (DCA) is looking to hire a Web Production Consultant to prepare and produce website products, assist in planning and producing editorial packages and coordinate with translation vendors for UN Women's global website in accordance to UN Women and UN style guides.
The consultant will be reporting to the Editorial Lead, and will be supported by the Administration Assistant, who will be the point of contact on the contract and payment issues.
Description of Responsibilities/ Scope of Work
- Prepare and produce website products for UN Women’s global website in English, French and Spanish, using the CMS.
- Assist the web editors in planning and producing editorial packages for major milestones, campaigns, and programme impact.
- Coordinate with the translation vendor and proof-readers to ensure timely receipt and web production of translated content on the global website.
- Ensure alignment with best practices on website content, and adherence to UN Women and UN style guides.Proofread (in English), prepare, and produce high-quality and timely web content using the Content Management System.
- Support in liaising with the multi-media team and web editors to add audio-visual assets to website products as needed.
- Support coordination with the vendor and proof-readers to send, receive, and upload translated content in French and Spanish on the UN Women global website.
- Liaise with the digital and ICT team as needed to support website production functions.
- Proactively search for and fix formatting problems in website content, as well as add or replace missing photographs or other media.
- Keep abreast with new trends in web technology to ensure UN Women web content is SEO and UX friendly.
- Support larger cross-team projects and campaigns through the web production of editorial packages.
- Ensure alignment with best practices in web production and adherence to UN Women and United Nations editorial style guides.
- Support the editorial team in other tasks as needed.

This is a remote consultancy, no travel is expected.

Functional Competencies:
- Proven experience in website production and proficiency in using Content Management Systems to produce website content (Drupal)
- Proficiency in the use of HTML and CSS, and in the use of new technologies and tools in website production
- Experience in proofreading editorial material, including the use of style guides.
- Experience in writing, multi-media storytelling and production is a plus.
- Self-starter; organized; team player; able to multitask and balance multiple responsibilities under tight deadlines.
Education and Certification:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Communications, journalism, computer science, or a related field is required.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
- At least 1 year of professional experience in web writing and web production is required.
- Experience in working with Content Management Systems, HTML and CSS is required.
- Excellent English communication and writing skills.
- Familiarity with the United Nations, international development, and gender equality is an asset.
Languages:
- Fluency in English is required.
- Fluency in Spanish and/or French is an asset.
