About the Country/Multi-Country Office
Based in Peru, the Andean Multi-Country Office (ANMCO) also oversees UNOPS operations in Ecuador and Colombia. In both Peru and Ecuador, UNOPS primarily provides technical assistance to strengthen local government capacities and improve public service delivery. Active in Peru since 1995, UNOPS has supported a wide array of initiatives across sectors such as health, education, justice, governance, environment, transportation, agriculture, and recreation—contributing to public sector modernization and the efficient, transparent use of public resources. Over the past 32 years, this collaboration has mobilized nearly USD 4 billion in public investments, delivering estimated savings of 20% and supporting progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals. In Ecuador, UNOPS works with national partners to enhance access to essential services, with a focus on health, urban mobility, and sustainable development, through public infrastructure modernization and the strategic procurement of goods and services.
Job Specific Context
El rol apoyará la asistencia técnica de UNOPS en la modernización y recuperación de activos críticos de centrales hidroeléctricas. El especialista se centrará en los componentes mecánicos de la siguiente cartera de proyectos:
Procura y montaje de turbinas, generadores, transformadores y válvulas esféricas.
Adquisición e instalación de sistemas de climatización y ventilación.
Reposición de los sistemas de protección contra incendios de generadores y transformadores.
Role Purpose
El Especialista Mecánico proporcionará soporte técnico especializado en ingeniería mecánica (turbinas, climatización/ventilación y sistemas auxiliares) al equipo multidisciplinario de UNOPS en la gestión de las licitaciones y el seguimiento contractual posterior, asegurando la calidad y la coherencia de la documentación técnica y de procura para los proyectos de la cartera destinados a la modernización y repotenciación de centrales hidroeléctricas.

Education Requirements
Requerido
- Título universitario (equivalente a un Bachelor’s degree) en Ingenieria Mecánica o electromecánica con 4 años de experiencia relevante O
- Título universitario superior (maestría) en cualquiera de los campos anteriores con 2 años de experiencia relevante.
Deseable
Certificación en Gestión de Proyectos (PMP, PRINCE2) es deseable.
Experience Requirements
Requerido
Mínimo de 2 a 4 años de experiencia (dependiendo del grado académico) en proyectos de centrales hidroeléctricas, u operación y mantenimiento en centrales hidroeléctricas.
Experiencia demostrable en Turbinas en centrales hidroeléctricas
Experiencia demostrable en Sistemas de Fluidos Criticos (sistemas de climatización y ventilación (HVAC) o sistemas contraincendios (SCI) o bombas de alta presión/sistemas auxiliares) en centrales hidroeléctricas.
Deseable
Experiencia en proyectos de centrales hidroeléctricas de gran capacidad.
Experiencia en adquisiciones públicas.
