Migration from Mexico and Central America to the United States is a longstanding and complex phenomenon. In January 2021, the new United States government created an inter-agency “Family Reunification Task Force” (FRTF) to reunify parents/guardians that were separated as a result of the Zero Tolerance policy and are currently in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and other countries with their children in the United States, as well as to provide a temporary legal migratory status to those that are already in the United States. 

Under the general oversight of the Chief, Global and Domestic Programmes Unit in Washington, D.C., and the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Officer at the Global Office in Washington, the incumbent is responsible for providing support to the FRTF project, with the following duties and responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  1. Support the creation, organization, maintenance, and archiving of FRTF case files and records.
  2. Accurately input data into the FRTF Program database and tracking systems.
  3. Participate in periodic data audits, cross-reference records, and conduct quality checks to ensure consistency, completeness, and reliability of information.
  4. Generate and format daily reports for submission to the U.S. government donor.
  5. Assist in compiling and analyzing data from multiple systems to identify trends, discrepancies, or areas requiring follow-up.
  6. Coordinate with developers to maintain and improve reporting tools, ensuring functionality and data integrity.
  7. Assist in drafting and updating SOPs, user guides, visual aids, workflows, and templates to support institutional knowledge and promote project standardization.
  8. Prepare and enter purchase orders and related payment documentation in IOM systems, track their progress, verify supporting documents, and ensure compliance with internal controls.
  9. Liaise with administrative, procurement, and finance teams to facilitate timely processing of programmatic requests.
  10. Provide logistical and administrative support for project implementation, including coordination with field offices and internal teams.
  11. Maintain professional communication with all stakeholders involved in the FRTF project.
  12. Undertake case management activities as directed by supervisors, including translation of documents.
  13. Participate in team meetings, trainings, and other relevant activities, and share updates as required.
  14. Undertake duty travel as requested;
  15. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Completed secondary education required with five years of relevant working experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Case Management, Social Services, Social Sciences, or a related field, with three years of relevant working experience

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in administrative and financial management, budget monitoring, cash management and internal control procedures;
  • Experience in the usage of office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and knowledge of spreadsheet and data analysis;
  • Knowledge of migratory context in USA and Central America;
  • Experience assisting vulnerable populations to access services within the United States, including support with form submissions will be considered an advantage.

IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. 

REQUIRED

For this position, fluency in English and Spanish are required (oral and written).
