Project Officer implements and coordinates project activities at the national level, in coordination with the Regional Project Manager, of the EU-funded flagship initiative Border Management Programme for Central Asia phase 11 (BOMCA 11).
Implemented by a consortium of partner institutions under the leadership of ICMPD, BOMCA 11 aims to advance regional cross-border cooperation, tackle organised crime, and improve living conditions for the population of border regions by applying an integrated border management approach and gender-balanced, human-rights-centred principles. It will work across three thematic components, each coordinated by a designated consortium partner institution. With a budget of € 12 million and a duration of 40 months, this phase will achieve results through capacity-building activities, the procurement of equipment, and grant schemes. Geographically, the project will cover five countries in Central Asia: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
The Project Officer reports directly to Regional Project Manager. In coordination with the ICMPD Head of Region and Regional Portfolio Manager for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, investigates potential synergies, cooperation and opportunities in mutual interests to BOMCA and ICMPD. The Project Officer works in close collaboration with other ICMPD projects', being implemented in Kyrgyzstan and EECA region, teams. S/he establishes and maintain permanent contacts with the project stakeholders and partners at the working level.
For this post knowledge of Kyrgyz, English and Russian is required.
