Duties and Responsibilities
The Website and Generic Communications Intern will work in the Department of Global Communications, in the Information Centres Service, which has a mandate to support UN Information Centres (UNICs) around the world. The Intern will support the Communications Assistant in charge of the UN Exhibitions webpage to upload content, including photos and text in multiple languages, under the overall supervision of more senior staff. This is the main task for the initial period of approximately two months, the output being that materials in multiple languages are duly uploaded to the website -- while paying attention to detail and avoiding errors. Once this task is completed after approximately two months from the contract's start date, the Intern will be assigned other tasks related to communications within the Information Centres Service, subject to performance and continued need. At that time, duties and related expected outputs may include conducting research, maintaining databases and lists, write reports, and interact with interlocutors.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). The successful candidate *must* have experience in HTML and uploading contents to website. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience; however, a field of study that is related to the type of internship is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (Bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. Programme. If you meet any of the above criteria, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage. Possessing some or all of the following would be desirable: * Familiarity with the alphabet and language basics of Arabic or/and Chinese or/and Russian. * Experience working in or closely with the UN System or other organizations involved in development, international cooperation, etc. * Experience in autonomously interacting and coordinating with multiple interlocutors.
Languages
Fluency in English is required.
Additional Information
For internships in the United States of America, persons who are not United States citizens, permanent residents or on another non-immigrant (such as F1 or J1 visa) status, will be required to obtain a G4 visa. The selected person will be responsible for ensuring that they have a valid visa, and approved employment authorization (CPT/OPT/AT), allowing them to undertake the internship.
