Nordic Development Fund (NDF) is the joint Nordic international finance institution (IFI), established in 1988 by Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. NDF’s work focuses on the nexus between climate change and development in lower-income countries and fragile situations. With an active portfolio of over EUR 450 million, NDF provides catalytic and concessional financing and works closely with strategic partners to develop, launch, and scale high-impact projects supporting climate-vulnerable countries and communities.

NDF is now looking for a

Finance & Data Trainee

to support financial administration and assist with data management and IT system development. This is a part-time role (approximately 20 hours/week) with the opportunity to work full-time during the summer (June–July). The work is conducted on an hourly basis with flexible time schedules, making it ideal to combine with studies.

Your Responsibilities

Financial Administration

  • Loan payments: Draft correspondence, manage invoicing, and update tracking files to support financial administration.
  • Credit requests: Provide debtors with credit information upon request, including both credit and disbursement history.
  • Disbursement requests: Verify and approve disbursement requests, update PMIS, and prepare confirmation letters.
  • Bookkeeping: Record payments and disbursements in SLS to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

IT Systems & Data Management

  • Validation: Test the functionality of new applications on NDF’s Power Platform (Power Apps and Power BI) to ensure accuracy, usability, and overall data quality.
  • Designing: Contribute to the development of new project ideas and create visual prototypes in Power Apps and Power BI. Work collaboratively with NIB and external service providers during development cycles, providing feedback and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • IT planning: Support the forecasting, prioritisation, and scheduling of upcoming system and data enhancements to ensure continuous improvement.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a genuine interest in NDF’s purpose and values.
  • Has completed at least 2 years of studies in Accounting or Finance. Studies in data analytics, computer science, or related fields are a plus.
  • Has an aptitude for figures and strong attention to detail.
  • Is proficient in Excel with strong analytical skills.
  • Has interest and skills in data analytics (Power BI).
  • Communicates confidently in English.
  • Is open-minded, flexible, and has good interpersonal and organizational skills with a genuine interest in learning.
