In the Logistics department, the Field Support Unit (FSU) gives support to the logistics and technical staff working in the country programs, which includes the support to construction activities, the management of vehicle fleets and complex equipment that are used to support our humanitarian medical operations.
Our Logistics department is looking for a:
Energy Efficiency Specialist (Flying)
70% in the country programs
The Energy Efficiency Specialist will integrate an existing team of experts that focus their efforts on implementing solutions to increase the energy efficiency of the setup in the country of operations, and the generation of renewable energy. All this with the objective of reducing the environmental impact and carbon footprint of the organization.
Job Objective
You provide hands-on and on-site specialised expertise and support to program country teams.
Main responsibilities
Perform energy efficiency assessments, identifying areas of improvements
Propose technical solutions to reduce the consumption of energy, with a focus on the solutions needed to improve the energy efficiency of infrastructure (healthcare structures, warehouses, offices and houses) such as infrastructure insulation and electricity consumption reduction
Plan technical interventions, which includes the technical feasibility, design of solutions adapted to the context and project planning
Accompany the procurement process to identify the right partners and suppliers that will be engaged to provide and install solutions
Validate suppliers, services providers and products in program countries and regional hubs
Assist the field teams in the supervision of the installation and commissioning of energy efficiency solutions
Prepare the teams to maintain the solutions through on-the-job trainings
Draft report highlighting further improvements before leaving the country of program
Support the projects finding local insulating material and solutions
Occasionally, you are required to support program countries in setting-up technical services in the start-up of (medium/large scale) emergencies.
You are working in countries of operation 70% of your time.
Candidate profile
Required
BSc/ MSc in a relevant technical discipline (e.g. electrical, electro-mechanical, HVAC engineer) or equipped with a comparable technical qualification. Any other technical degree or certification relevant to the role will be considered as a strong advantage
At least 2 years of MSF experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in implementation of energy efficiency measures in buildings, which also includes planning, design, commissioning testing and operation
Experience with relevant software
Experience working with sub-contractors and general contractors
Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously and knowledge of project management (i.e. budgets, timelines, etc.)
Overseas experience, working experience in a different context
An excellent command of the English language
Flexibility and availability to travel (sometimes on a short notice) and work in program countries for 70%
Preferred
French or Arabic language
Relevant specific experience for the role:
Building Insulation techniques
Experience and/or knowledge HVAC systems and efficiency
Energy efficiency/reduction measures
We offer
A challenging and exciting position in an international environment, with frequent travels to program countries.
A contract for 1 year with a renewal option (subject to satisfactory performance and funding continuity) based on a full-time appointment (40 hours/week). This position is graded within the IRFFG level 13 – International Reference Field Function Grid, MSF International.
