About the Country/Multi-Country Office
Based in Addis Ababa, the Horn of Africa Multi-Country Office (HAMCO) delivers project management, procurement, and infrastructure services across Djibouti, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Sudan, with a primary focus on health, agriculture, and economic development. Established in 2009, HAMCO partners with governments and development stakeholders to implement impactful, results-driven initiatives that contribute to sustainable development. Since 2024, new projects have been aimed at expanding access to healthcare, education, energy, and livelihoods, particularly in underserved and conflict-affected regions. HAMCO also provides human resource management services, supporting the effective implementation of development initiatives. Key efforts include equipping research facilities, strengthening education and health systems, building vaccine research capacity, and enhancing resilience in communities affected by crisis. Through these interventions, HAMCO contributes to inclusive growth, regional stability, and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across the Horn of Africa.
Job Specific Context
The Ministry of Agriculture Conference Center is a state-of-the-art national venue designed to host high-level conferences, multi-stakeholder dialogues, training programs, and international events. Modern audiovisual systems, including projection, sound reinforcement, hybrid meeting capabilities, interpretation booths, and a central control room, are essential to delivering a seamless and professional client experience. The Cleaner is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation across the Conference Center. The role ensures that conference halls, public areas, restrooms, and support facilities are clean, safe, and ready for daily operations and high-level national and international events.
Role Purpose
The Cleaner supports smooth facility operations by performing routine and deep-cleaning tasks in accordance with established schedules, hygiene standards, and health and safety procedures.
Functions / Key Results Expected
1.Routine cleaning
- Pre-and post event cleaning and setup support for conference halls, breakout rooms, VIP lounges, interpretation booths, and registration areas
- Sweeping, washing the floor with the use of detergents
- Removal of dust and local contamination from the open surfaces of cabinets, shelves; tables, chairs, desks, electrical and office equipment, switches, table lamps, window sills.
- Removal of dust and stains from doors, door frames, handles
- Collection of waste and paper from baskets, removal of waste to the designated place, inserting plastic bags into trash cans;
- Regular inspection of restrooms during working hours and spot-cleaning during events (restrooms, foyers, high-traffic areas) to maintain cleanliness and professional appearance
- Cleaning of mirror and glass surfaces;
- Watering flowers and caring for plants;
- Cleaning, washing, disinfection with special solutions of sinks, tiled walls, dispensers and accessories;
- Filling dispensers with liquid soap and toilet paper, disposable paper for toilet, towels and deodorants;
- Washing dishes (in the kitchen and in offices) and keeping the refrigerator and other kitchen appliances clean.
2. Monthly deep cleaning
- Cleaning of floors: sweeping, washing, removing stains from the floor, deep cleaning of the floor;
- Removal of dust, removal of stains and sticky substances (chewing gum, traces of glue, etc.) from floors;
- Removal of dust from the ventilation & AC grilles on ceilings and walls, cleaning of blinds, upholstered furniture;
- Washing of windows.
- Washing and disinfection of trash bins and disinfection room
