IRC UK
IRC UK was established in London in 1997 to support the organisation’s global activities and particularly to diversify its donor base and be able to better advocate with European policy-makers on behalf of the people we serve. Since its establishment IRC UK has grown rapidly and is now acknowledged for its high-quality project management, technical expertise in governance and rights and economic recovery, and innovative thinking on early recovery and gender-based violence. IRC UK comprises approximately 240 staff. The IRC UK launched its first Resettlement Asylum and Integration (RAI) programme in the UK called RISE in 2020, working in partnership with local councils, to provide integration support to resettled refugees in Southeast England. The IRC now supports refugees and asylum seekers throughout England. 

The Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated bilingual female ESOL tutor fluent in Farsi, Dari, or Pashto. This role primarily involves delivering women-only online sessions in a safe and supportive learning environment.
The ideal candidate will bring creativity and flexibility to adapt teaching methods to the diverse needs of learners. As an ESOL tutor, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality ESOL provision across multiple IRC projects, empowering adult learners to achieve their goals and thrive in their communities.

Key Working Relationships:

The position reports to the ESOL coordinator. 

Key Accountabilities

•    Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging ESOL lessons and conversation classes for refugees at varying proficiency levels, both online and in person.
•    Apply trauma-informed teaching practices to foster safe and supportive learning environments.
•    Assess learners’ language needs and develop individualised learning plans.
•    Contribute to curriculum development and the creation of teaching resources.
•    Monitor and track learner progress, maintaining accurate and timely records.
•    Gather participant feedback in collaboration with the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer to inform programme design and ensure continuous improvement.
•    Collaborate with IRC UK programme teams, US teams, and RAI Europe education teams to support programme development and share best practices.
•    Assist with donor reporting as required.
•    Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with ESOL teaching methodologies and best practices.

Person Specification

•    Holds a recognised ESOL teaching qualification.
•    Proven experience in designing and delivering online ESOL programmes, ideally for refugees and learners with low literacy in their first language.
•    Experience in developing ESOL resources.
•    Ability to adapt content and delivery methods to meet the diverse needs of participants.
•    Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and understanding of trauma-informed practice.
•    Strong digital skills and proficiency in using online learning platforms.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
•    Effective communication and networking skills, with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders.
•    Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond promptly to changing demands.

The salary for this role 36,000 GBP  pro-rata
