Job Overview:
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is one of the leading providers of high-quality programming for refugees resettling to the United States. Switchboard is a one-stop resource hub for refugee service providers in the United States, supported by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). Switchboard is seeking an Events Manager. Switchboard provides training and capacity-building services to ORR-funded refugee service providers in the United States, including resettlement agencies and affiliates, state agencies, ethnic community-based organizations, and others. Events Manager reports to the Senior Program Officer for Instructional Design and will be responsible for planning and delivering the production of all Switchboard virtual events, including webinars, meetings, and certificate courses. This position is remote and may be located anywhere in the United States.
This position is contingent on receipt of grant funding.
Major Responsibilities:
Event Production
- Own the lifecycle of Switchboard’s Zoom virtual events production (30+ webinars, roundtables, and facilitated discussions annually) including but not limited to scheduling, speaker coordination, creating registration pages, editing PowerPoint decks, leading run of show rehearsals with Switchboard Training Officers and subject matter experts, executing webinars, obtaining transcripts, and posting all archived Switchboard webinars, transcripts, and recommended resources to Switchboard website
- Manage event production lifecycle for Switchboard in-person meetings and events (1-2 events annually)
- Research and recommend innovative event production practices, training practices, and production tools that Switchboard should incorporate
- Streamline Switchboard’s virtual events processes for efficiency
- Champion a culture of learning and continuous improvement in Switchboard’s approach to producing virtual events; identify relevant professional development opportunities for Switchboard team
Key Communications
- Provide content relevant to upcoming virtual events to Switchboard Communications Manager for use in promotional materials
- Provide content relevant to upcoming virtual events to Switchboard Communications Manager for use in social media materials
- Manage all incoming email requests pertinent to community of practice membership
- Manage all incoming email requests pertinent to virtual events: serve as the primary contact for Switchboard’s speakers and registrants; follow through on responding to requests, questions, and provide timely customer service
- Contribute to communications about virtual events with Switchboard partners: follow through on responding to requests, questions, and provide timely customer service
Project Management
- Initiate and manage the deliverable creation cycle, review, and vetting process for all Switchboard learning opportunities including webinars, instructor-led courses, eLearning courses, and communities of practice to ensure deliverables are planned, reviewed, and completed at a high standard
- Maintain project management of Switchboard email marketing and Social Media strategy
- On a daily basis, monitor Airtable notifications of learning opportunities to ensure items are on track, trouble shoot any issues, and follow up on questions or concerns
- When requested, assist in facilitating ORR feedback and next steps to project leads
M&E
- Integrate feedback surveys into corresponding deliverables and coordinate with M&E team related to results and potential implications on deliverables moving forward
- Contribute to needs assessment process to ensure instructional design best practices are incorporated into Switchboard’s annual workplan
- Provide input into Switchboard reports, including monthly activity updates and semi-annual Performance Progress Reports

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in instructional design, education, business administration, marketing, communications or other relevant field (or equivalent experience)
- High technology aptitude and comfort on webinar platforms (Zoom, Teams, and Slido) and other components of Switchboard’s learning opportunities tech stack (PPT, Thinkific, Canva, Synthesia), project management platform (Airtable), and survey platform (SurveyMonkey)
- Experience developing, delivering, and producing webinars or synchronous virtual training
- Experience with multimedia trainings, such as online courses and self-paced e-learning courses
- Minimum four years of experience developing and implementing training, technical assistance, capacity-building, or education programs
- Superior project management skills: experience successfully managing multiple projects and stakeholders in various stages of development
- Experience working with cross-functional teams on multiple projects with demonstrably successful deliverables
- Extraordinary attention to detail
- Familiarity with and commitment to data-driven, evidence-based programming
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with evidence of ability to engage staff at multiple levels as well as external subject matter experts
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Graduate degree in relevant field (or equivalent experience)
- Familiarity with relevant Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR)-funded programs
Compensation: (Pay Range: $62,000 - $72,000) Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
