Job Description

Internal and external candidates will be considered for this vacancy. For the purposes of this vacancy, internal candidates are defined as staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded or ungraded contract, including Junior Professional Officers (JPOs), staff on Special Leave Without Pay (SLWOP), and staff members on secondment/loan released by the Organization, unless otherwise specified in their contract. Staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded contract will not retain their contract type if appointed to an ungraded position.

 
Context: 

The project supports the protection and assistance of unaccompanied migrant children (UMC) and vulnerable women applicants and beneficiaries of international protection across Greece. Building on the longstanding cooperation between IOM and the Hellenic Ministry of Migration and Asylum, the action ensures the continuation and strengthening of key national protection mechanisms. Through this project, IOM and its partners plan to support in identifying and assisting UMC in precarious conditions or homelessness, provide interpretation services for the NERM Hotline, offer child protection services in Safe Areas and Safe Zones and ensure dignified accommodation and support at the Open Center "One Step Forward", designed for vulnerable single women and single mothers with their children.

Under the overall supervision of the  National Cluster Coordinator (Unaccompanied Migrant Children) and the direct supervision of the Senior Project Coordinator Assistant, the incumbent will have the following duties and responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  1. Support the planning, management, and monitoring of operations of NERM's project.
  2. Support with preparation of financial reports, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and project’s objectives. 
  3. Draft proposals and reports, and any communication related to various stakeholders.
  4. Support the administrative part of the operations of National Emergency Response Mechanism (NERM's) activities
  5. Maintain and update relevant databases, in accordance with IOM data principles, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
  6. Perform other related duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education
  • University degree in Business or Public Administration, Management, International Relations or a related field from an accredited academic institution with minimum two years of work experience.
  • High school degree/ certificate with minimum four years of work experience; 
  • Master’s degree in above fields is an advantage.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
 
Experience
  • Minimum one years of related work experience in a humanitarian setting;
  • Experience in support the planning, management, and monitoring of operations preferred;
  • Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities and stakeholders, working in international organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization;
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and prepare clear and concise formal correspondence, project proposals and financial reports;

 

Skills
  • Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills.
  • Proficient in a Microsoft Office environment and office software packages. Knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems;

  • Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles
Languages
  • For this position, fluency in Greek and certified working knowledge of English is required (oral and written).
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
