Job Description

Context

Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

IOM Zimbabwe  is recognized by the Government of Zimbabwe (GoZ) as the principal international inter-governmental organization addressing the entire spectrum of migration issues. IOM has been operational in Zimbabwe since 1985, and Zimbabwe became a Member State of IOM in 2002. In line with IOM’s global strategy, IOM Zimbabwe works in advancing migration policy and practice while addressing humanitarian and development challenges of migration. It does so together with governmental, intergovernmental and civil society partners through well-informed, coordinated and protection-centred actions. The areas of IOM intervention in the country include:  humanitarian response and recover, migration management, migration health services, movements assistance and migration protection as well as migration data

Under the overall guidance from the Chief of Mission, and direct supervision from the Project Development and Reporting Officer (RPDO), the successful candidate will be responsible for providing operational and administrative support  to project development and  reporting.

Responsibilities

  1. Assist the programme managers to coordinate the administrative process for the review, endorsement and tracking of project proposals and reports developed by the mission. 

  2.  Provide support on tracking and compalling information on calls for proposals and assist programme managers in organizing and maintaining records of potential project development opportunities.  level.
  3. Under the guidance of the RPDO   provide administrative support tothe development of projects that are regional/multi-country level by compiling documentation, organizing meetings, tracking progress and sharing information with relevant parties. 
  4. Act as the administrative focal pointfor the IOM PRIMA portalsystem and regularly upload  information and  support follow-up action.

  5.  Support the drafting of internal reports, presentations, talking points, speeches, statements and briefings as relevant.
  6. Under guidance of the RPDO,  provide administrative and coordination support to  ongoing knowledge management processes at mission.

  7. Maintainup-to-date mapping of donor contacts, trends and opportunities based on RMD information.

  8. Participate in workshops and meetings related to the technical area of expertise, as required by the RPDO.
  9. Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education
  • School diploma with five years of relevant experience; or

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, Business Administration, Migration Studies, International Relations, Law, or related field with  three years of relevant professional experience; or, 

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
 
Experience
  • Experience in the field of migration issues, including operational and field experience, with project management, project development and other relevant technical experience;

  • Demonstrated expertise in the technical area particularly project development;

  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, other national/international institutions, private sector and NGOs; and,

  • Work experience in project development in the Region is an asset.

Languages
  • For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
