Context
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Senior Communication Associate, the Young Professional will support the Project Support Unit of IOM ROK in implementing digital communications, public information, and visibility activities. The position contributes to strengthening IOM’s outreach and engagement efforts by supporting content production, social media management, media materials, and knowledge management across IOM Seoul’s communication platforms.
IOM, as the implementing agency, will recruit a Young Professional through KOICA’s Young Professional Programme to strengthen institutional capacity and ensure continuity of programme support through an open and competitive selection process. This position is open to Nationals of the Republic of Korea only. The sponsoring entity, KOICA, will be directly responsible for salary payment.
Responsibilities
The Young Professional will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
- Assist in drafting, editing, and producing digital content, including social media posts, images, videos, newsletters, and other multimedia materials, to effectively communicate IOM’s work and enhance online engagement.
- Support the day-to-day management of IOM’s social media channels by scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, preparing basic analytics summaries, and ensuring timely and accurate updates across platforms.
- Assist in the production and dissemination of newsletters, including layout preparation, content compilation, translation support, and coordination of distribution.
- Support the maintenance and regular updating of IOM ROK’s and programme websites, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and the timely publication of relevant information and resources.
- Assist in drafting, formatting, and distributing press releases and other public information materials to support media outreach and visibility efforts.
- Support the production and enhancement of branding and donor-visibility materials in line with IOM and donor guidelines.
- Maintain and organize digital content archives and communication materials.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
General Requirements
- Korean citizenship
- between 20 and 36 years of age
- Applicants must, at the time of application, a) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or b) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or c) have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations, International Development, International Studies, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Experience
- Experience or working knowledge of using social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other relevant platforms.
- Experience or working knowledge of in marketing communications, including advertising, graphic design, or video editing, is an advantage.
- Experience using standard office software packages (e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Previous experience working in an international organization is desirable.
Skills
- Understanding of multimedia content production and dissemination across websites, social media platforms, and media outlets.
- Ability to edit images and videos in formats suitable for digital and social media use.
- Familiarity with humanitarian, development, or migration-related work is an advantage.
- Knowledge of the United Nations system and project implementation processes is preferred.
Languages
- Professional proficiency in both Korean and English (oral and written) is required.
- Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

- IOM covers Interns against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the assignment. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
