About the job

The Paramedic / Field Medic provides comprehensive medical coverage for DRC-HDP mine action teams in Gaza and the oPt, delivering on-site first aid and advanced life support, preparing and implementing task-specific evacuation plans, and leading MEDEVAC drills in line with DRC-HDP Medical SOPs. The role also oversees the maintenance and readiness of medical equipment, monitors staff health and hygiene conditions, and provides regular medical reporting and alerts on communicable diseases to the Medical Coordinator and HMA management.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing medical coverage for DRC-HDP personnel active in the relevant Operation Area.
  • During operational working hours’ act as Paramedic in the field with teams according to DRC-HDP Medical SOP and always be present at the task site.
  • Perform basic first aid and advanced first aid at level 2 when required.
  • Prepare the evacuation plan for each individually planned hazard together with the TFM.
  • Perform stabilization of a possible accident casualty in field conditions.
  • Daily inspection of medical equipment trauma kit/Ambulance kit includes stretcher and Ambulance.
  • Monitor, treat and follow up on the medical status of the deminers and other HDP-field staff.
  • Check/Monitor the hygienic conditions of the personnel, equipment, vehicles, and compounds and the Field Office.
  • Provide weekly, monthly reports, and incident reports to the relevant paramedic supervisor/medical officer.
  • Provide the medicine update list to the medical supervisor.
  • Led the training that was planned as urgent for field staff during the absence of the medical coordinator.
  • Plan and execute MEDEVAC exercises in the area of responsibility at the beginning of each working cycle.
  • Responsible for maintaining, organizing, storage, updating, and upgrading medical equipment at ambulance and compound.
  • Update the site log for all external and internal visitors. The logbook shall contain the name, nationality, unit/organization, blood type, time of entrance and exit.
  • Undertake any other duties assigned by the DRC-HDP medical coordinator and relevant HDP managers.
  • On a monthly basis prepare the report to medical coordinator and TFM about the health condition of all field staff.
  • Report to medical coordinator about any communicable and epidemic disease in the area.
  • Prepare the accident report for the medical coordinator and follow the instructions he/she received from them.

 

Experience and technical competencies:

  • 2 years experience as medical doctor in surgery (mandatory).
  • 2 years working appearance with HMA and other NGOs as paramedics in the field (advantageous).

 

Education:

  • Graduated as a medical doctor.

 

Languages:

  • Arabic – fluency.
  • Intermediate understanding of English.
