Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly motivated Finance and Administration Assistant for our operations in our Mai-Tsebri Field Office.


Overall purpose of the role

Responsible for handling payments, Administration tasks, and Fleet management for the Mai-Tsebri base office. S/he will provide financial support to DRC and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with DRC’s Operational Handbook.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

Finance and accounting

  • Manage petty cash and clear cash advances upon request
  •  Prepare monthly cash counts
  • Maintain proper filing of all financial documentation (vouchers, contracts, tender documents, etc.)
  •  Cash Box counting according to the financial handbook
  • Assist in the preparation of payment requests and payments, ensuring compliance with DRC’s Operational Handbook.
  • Support in maintaining accurate and compliant financial records, both soft and hard copies, ensuring records are properly filed and labeled, and checking the completeness of financial documents.
  • Process withholding & Income taxes and Pension funds to the relevant Authorities.
  • Prepare receipt, payment, and other vouchers as required upon approval.
  • Keep office cash to its limit and make timely replenishment.
  • Ensure financial transactions are recorded in the system as per DRC finance procedures
  • Assist the finance officer in carrying out financial tasks at the base office level

Administration

  • Ensure that all office systems and equipment (power, water, telephone, photocopier, fax, etc.) are in good working order.
  • Follow up on Payment of office and guest house bills.
  • Responsible for office supplies.
  • Responsible for necessary repairs & maintenance of the office and equipment promptly in coordination with the Supply Chain staff in Shire.
  • Ensure the vehicle movements are per DRC fleet management policies and procedures
  • Ensure that DRC staff have Identification cards (ID) within the period of validity under the employment contract.
  • Oversee administration tasks and office management.
  • Responsible for managing the rental vehicle driver and refueling of the rental vehicle on time.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
  • Responsible for recording, keeping, and releasing materials in a warehouse.
  • Working closely with the North area office Finance, Supply Chain, and HR colleagues
  • Supervise the Mai-Tsebri office cleaner in day-to-day routine cleaning activities.

Experience and technical competencies:

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience, preferably within an IGNO
  • Experience with carrying out admin tasks
  • Good communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  •  Basic proficiency in PowerPoint and Word
  • Well-developed organizational and planning skills to meet deadlines

 EDUCATION: (include certificates, licenses, etc.)

  • Diploma, or BA in accounting or a relevant field from a recognized institution

LANGUAGE: (indicate Fluency level)

  • English, Tigrigna, & Amharic - Fluency in spoken and in writing.

Designation of Duty Station: Mai-Tsebri, North Ethiopia Field Office.

Start date:  1st February 2026

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National employees
